“China Mobile Ltd , China’s largest mobile carrier, is expected to offer Apple Inc’s popular iPhone on its network from September, a local newspaper reported on Friday,” Kazunori Takada reports for Reuters.
“The paper said the iPhone will likely be offered on a 4G service,” Takada reports. “Rival China Unicom is the only operator in China, which has 886 million mobile phone users, to offer the iPhone so far.”

Where does the original article say ANYTHING about it being an iPhone 5?
The implication that the iPhone will be offered with 4G service means only the 5 qualifies. I’m not sure though with 4G having so many disparate standards whether the new iPhone will incorporate any of the technology.
From what I understand: they’re going to have to pretty much create a phone for the Chinese market, due to their homegrown network. So, it could be an iPhone 1, technically…
