Gary Krakow: ‘The 3G iPhone Stinks’

After careful consideration and several emails from readers who submitted this for inclusion on our otherwise fine site to which we uniformly replied, “No free publicity for drunk grandmas,” we’ve reconsidered; if only to shine a bright light on an unkept, slovenly idiot who has no business commenting on how to choose personal eyewear, much less attempting to singlehandedly talk down revolutionary products using reviews that he obviously cannot even read well enough to comprehend (try wearing them right-side up, Gary).

Without further ado, we present Gary Krakow of The Street.com in “The 3G iPhone Stinks” for your entertainment:

Direct link here.

MacDailyNews Take: Don’t listen to Krakow’s pissing-into-the-wind prattle — he’s obviously intent on destroying whatever wisp of credibility he thinks he had built up over at MicrosoftNBC before he checks out; one more eclair ought to just about do it, Gary — just read for yourselves the full reviews that he tries (and fails) to collectively twist into something they most certainly are not:

• The New York Times’ David Pogue reviews iPhone 3G
The Wall Street Journal’s Walter Mossber reivews iPhone 3G

And, Gary, it’s “iPhone 3G,” you bloated, asinine failure.

  1. First, I’m a huge Apple fan.

The points the Gary is making are not his own. So I don’t know why people are calling HIM an idiot. Not all the points made were negative either.

Some of the points I do question though.
-GPS antennae too small for turn by turn. I have no idea if this is true, but I doubt it. I thought this was just a software choice made by Apple.
-Just because the iPhone is great at games doesn’t mean much. Computers are good at games too.
-Battery life stinks. Has anyone had an iPhone 3G long enough to condition the battery.
-Can not swap battery. Legitimate, but we all know there are external battery options. Finding a power source isn’t typically difficult either.

  2. He just cut himself there. Because the iPhone is good for playing games, hence it’s not good news for business people. Thats some turded logical backwash puke coming from a mental institute … what about PCs then for the last decade?

  3. Phonedropouts on the highway? You shouldnt use the phone and drive at the same time moron.

It seems to me like the allmighty US is way behind Europe when it comes to implementing 3G. Im not allknowing on this tech but I know it has lots of coverage in my little nordic country. Mostly in the bigger cities but its growing in other parts too.

  4. The guy says that even though it is cheaper up front, the data plan makes it more expensive over the two year period. And the guy gets his grasp of economics from where exactly?

Oh yes, and where is my free Ferrari?

I like his complaint that the iPhone is going to be a great gaming platform, which is not a wanted feature for businesses. How about the the other way around. This exchange feature is crap. What gamer would want that? iPhone is useless. See anyone can work for the street.

  5. Ah well, if he wasn’t so sad he would be funny.

As it is, he’s just … sad.

Of course, if he doesn’t want an iP, that means there’s one spare for the rest of us ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  6. …And the good news is:

No matter what he says, there will be ten million iPhones in people’s hands by New Years…and then NO ONE will ever have any credibility in him again.

His utter foolishness will be preserved in Video on the WEB forever. His grandchildren are going to be cringing about their GrandPa.

  7. I don’t get the outrage (or the headline)… he didn’t say it stinks… he said there were some criticisms in the reviews, and that it has some issues.

And that maybe if you had the original it wasn’t worth upgrading since you get the new software.

If that upsets you, methinks you ARE a fanboy.

Though I don’t know how that translates into “stinks” in the headline. What I heard is “it’s not perfect.”

    Well of course.

I still want one… when Sprint unlocks my handcuffs.

  8. The iPhone sucks!! Phone Calls, we have been able to make phone calls for decades. Video, I have been able to watch video on my tv for decades. Music, my grandma could listen to music. It runs on a battery, come on, batteries have been around for decades. When is Apple going to invent something NEW. Obviously they will be out of business before long.

  9. I love this guy. He and I dated for a while. The only problems were that it was difficult to breathe when he was sprawled on top of me and I never felt when he was in me…

He’s also real smart when compared to me.

  10. To those people who wonder why Mac people crap on Krakow …its because he is clearly struggling to crap on the iPhone. We know the iPhone is not perfect but its V2 and they improved it once again. V3 will be even better.
You are missing the point and are pretty obtuse to not see what this guy is trying to do. I love Apple and Apple innovation but yes there are problems with Mac computers iPods and iPhones….but they are a far site better than the current offerings out there.

Also don’t you notice that people are having fun insulting this bozo? Some of the comments are quite imaginative and funny. I for one love to read the comments. Loosen up people….this is FUN. Don’t be so serious.

Don’t you think that the iPhone stinking and the guy having the word Krack in his last name is not of cosmic significance? ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

  11. Well the WOW (what a jerk) starts now. !! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

You guys pretty much covered it all. HOWEVER, I think the girl had more brains than this guy. She was feeding him his lines at times.

But BOTH are just pushing Apple hate. I guess Microsoft pays more money to HATE Apple than Apple pays to like Apple. LOL

    Nuff said.

  12. Went to see the original video at “The Street”. Also saw their – It cost $7000 (over your lifetime in lost interest) to own an iPhone for 2 years.

Hmmm, The Street has no reply area so they do not care about what you say, just how many hits they get.

Hit whores selling adverts. No money in stock advice cause they have no GOOD advice, only noise used to sell ads.

The Street just dropped so low in respect (for me) that its now in NEGATIVE territory. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” /> Just a waste of time.

    Just a thought.

  13. Let’s see, us people in business are waiting for Exchange, and Pogue glosses over this ability (so what?), and Mossberg tested it extensively and the Exchange works perfectly.

Then, it turns out, this phone is more expensive than the first one – but, as it turns out, many/most of “Us People in Business” don’t have to pay the cost of the plan, our employers pay for the phone and data plan. Sometimes Us People have to pay for the phone. In either case, the 3G is cheaper and better.

The 3G network sucks and Krakow sucks. But the 3G network is getting better. Krakow is just mired in the sludge.

Did he actually TEST ONE HIMSELF?

  14. OK,
Firstly, anyone who reads and believes in thestreet.com fake news is a complete idiot who needs be saved from.

Secondly, all of their writers are stupid asses crying for Microsoft to fund and pay them because they’re bashing Mac for no reasons.
