Report: Apple’s iPhone 1.1.3 Update imminent, may feature voice recording, disk mode

“Apple may be preparing a significant update for the iPhone as early as this weekend that will have some heavily requested features, according to a claim from CNET France,” Electronista reports.

“The site points to multiple reports that a 1.1.3 upgrade for the iPhone will appear by Saturday which adds both a disk mode for storing general data on the device and a voice recording mode for capturing lectures or voice memos,” Electronista reports.

“It is also likely to break existing modifications to the firmware that allow the iPhone to run third-party code or unlock the device to run with carriers outside of those approved by Apple,” Electronista reports.

  1. How about the ability to manually manage the iPod functionality just like every other iPod (not sure about the iPod Touch, however).

And, in agreement with many others, AT&T;’s service area coverage sucks!

  2. “I’m looking forward to being able to add multiple recipients to an SMS text message. Anybody else want this too?”
I am right there with you BigSmooth!! that is right now the annoyance i have with the iPhone. I know you can group them up into one contact but hell that is trash. Such a simple thing they left out. other than that iPhone best phone i have to date. no doubt.

  3. Enhanced functionality to any Apple software is always indicated by an increase in the second decimal place (10.4 to 10.5). Changes in operations, such as bug fixes are indicated by changes in the third decimal place (1.1.2 to 1.1.3). Therefore, this supposed update is just more bug fixes if the version number is correct, or the version number is wrong. Either way, the rumor doesn’t sound believable to me. I guess we will just have see.

  4. About the excessive semicolons:

What you likely have to do is type the following for the name of the telehone company working with Apple: AT&T. The “&” is the HTML code to put in an ampersand, since the ampersand is a “special character” HTML flag.

Of course, you may not see here what I intend, since in order to preview it, I have to post it. We’ll see.

  5. Apple has delivered WiFi iTunes, uploading to .Mac Web Gallery, the double-click Home button feature, double space = period, etc. and is going to release 3rd-party native apps in two months, and now we hear that voice recording and disk mode may be coming. Predrag’s point, that Apple is delivering on its promise to improve the iPhone over time, is not “a load of crap.”

  6. I have been waiting for this update for sooo long now, I am so glad they’re finally going to bring it. Because with this update comming out, the hackers will be able to hack the bootloader 4.6, which is a component from 1.1.2…

    FINALLY

PS: I may telle you, people in Belgium and netherlands are going to go wild when they here this!

“I bet Nokia et all the other mobile makers cant update the functionality of their phones like this!

This is why a phone with only a touch screen will always be better than a phone with a keypad and plastic buttons.

Apple can add whatever new features, software or interface that they want just by a simple update.

This in essence creates a device that is infinitely up-datable without the crap of have to buy a new phone for the new functions.

God I looooove my iPhone and I cant wait for the update!”

Hmmm, Well nokia just updated the n95 to include a pedometer, newer interface, faster menus, a Pedometer, and more.

I do like my iPhone, but I am swapping it for a 8gb n95 today.

Dont you think that the 3rd party apps will just be like the ones they have now for iPod games?

ei. They pick some big companys to make a few, then you have to go into iTunes, buy it, and sync to your iPhone. Plain stupid, it wont make mch of a difference at all.
