First Lady Laura Bush presents U.S. National Design Award to Apple’s Jonathan Ive at White House

“The National Design Awards were presented at the White House yesterday to 10 top designers and architects, including the company that developed Photoshop, and a man partly responsible for the iPod,” Jacqueline Trescott reports for The Washington Post. “Laura Bush told the audience in the East Room that it was a day to remember ‘design’s ability to influence the way we live.'”

Trescott reports, “She said the ‘union of form and function has changed the way we peel potatoes and brush our teeth. Your design has made it more fun to go back in time and play oldies on our iPods and to really go back in time by doctoring our photos on Photoshop.'”

“The awards are sponsored by the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, a New York arm of the Smithsonian Institution,” Trescott reports.

“Adobe Systems, the creator of Photoshop, Acrobat and Dreamweaver software, received the corporate achievement award,” Trescott reports. “The product design award was given to Jonathan Ive, the senior vice president of industrial design at Apple. Products under his supervision include the iMac, iBook and iPod.”

  1. > Steven – Remember…

Conviction to an idea is no measure of moral stature or intellect.

George Bush is an idiot or the best played puppet in The United States political history. He is NOT a statesman, he doesn’t know history, he isn’t well traveled as as far as his convictions go – Insane people are certain of a lot of things – that just are not so. I guess that raises them to a higher level than most in your eyes.

It never fails that people who know the least – think they know the most.

    Open your own eyes.

  2. Give President Bush some credit. He’s leagues above Reagan, who “cut and run” from Lebanon, after 241 American Marines were killed by the Hezbollah bomb. Bush would have stayed the course, and fought in Lebanon!

Unlike Reagan, who in a 1985 effort to free a few American hostages being held in Lebanon, authorized the sale of 107 tons of anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles to Iran – President Bush stands up to the Iranians, and would never consider appeasement or negotiations, let alone selling them weapons!

President Bush is in a league all his own, high above the traitor Reagan.

  3. >Kent-

I guess you appease them the same way George Bush appeases you. By killing someone.

I’ll sign you up for your identity implant so you can prove your undying patriotism. What is your security number?

    Be seeing you.

  4. What the hell did that last post mean???? Are you a terrorist? What do you think of that article? We’d love to hear your thoughts on that. Why won’t you answer that question???? Instead you just insult other posters. You have no clue what to do until you prove otherwise.

  5. @ Kent

I respond to that the same way I always do – to encourage people to dump their childish, superstitious beliefs in invisible deities and ancient parables written by goat herders.
The problem is not Islam, the problem is faith. Give someone the keys to your mind and you become their weapon, useable as any other tool to further the aims of those you deem holy. When the human race finally throws its gooey, feel-good ideology of heavenly reward and vengeance upon the ash heap of bad ideas, only then will we have no more justification to kill one another over our fears and fantasies.

In other words, stop being such a goddamn tool.

  6. Chrissy,

I agree with you on religion but you don’t have any other modern day religion doing the things that muslims are doing. You can argue that Christians used to commit attrocities but that was a more violent time. Muslims are still stuck in that mentaility. Did you read the Daily Mail article?

  7. Well Chrissy that sends your previous post right out the window if that was really you posting. You have no solution to stop terrorism just some stupid comment about getting rid of religion. How do you plan on going about that one Chrissy????

  8. > Kent

I didn’t say anything in my posts that is insulting to other posters. You insulted me my calling me a moron.

If you are insulted, then you are insulted by the truth.

Quite possibly YOU are a terrorist. You just don’t know it. And that makes you the worst kind of terrorist.

If you don’t know what my posts means then you are not very smart. No explaining will help.

I can still sign you up for your identity implant. You sound like you might need one. What is your security number?

“We then invaded Korea and then Southeast Asia in failed efforts to prop up dictators who supported our interests.”
Damn lying history books taught me it was China and North Vietnam that did this. And then my relatives who served there went along with this lie!!!!

“We do this because we are inherently violent, selfish, and ignorant. The only way to stop our cycle of hypocrisy is to learn and practice peace and altruism, and educate ourselves with the principles that make us more human and less beastly. Other nations must do the same.”
I bet Al-Qaeda knew we were going to invade Afghanistan and Iraq, so they attacked New York first, and our embassies and ships. Bravo to them!!!!

seriously, I understand the point he is going for, but you can turn the cheek only so many times until you are forced to turn around and use those cheeks. We call that an ass-whoopin’.

Hey, you seen any of them 787’s flying around? Actually, I guess there is only one so far……

  10. > Kent –

there you go again with the insults. Stay with us man – keep on the subject.

    >TowerTone-

    Long time no see-

I have to say they for any one professing to be a “devoted christian” the “ass-whoopin” thing is a bit hypocritical. If that were really acceptable in the faith then Christ would have said at some point. OK, I’ve turned the other cheek – NOW it’s time to give a real Ass-whoopin. And proceed to kick some serious ass – he was said to have some good connections too.

Granted it’s hard to do the follow through that he did, but he did – if the story can be fully believed. I wasn’t there and have only heard the story told.

The follow thru depends on what you Really believe.

  11. So instead of reading the article and making an intelligent assesment of it you dismiss it as “Fox News spread over dead trees”???? Have you ever watched Fox News? That’s besides the point. The article is a very interesting take from a former terrorist. Who cares if it’s in the Daily Mail or Move ON.ORG? Read it and be enlightened.

Christianity and Islam are both religions based on fear. Throughout the Old Testament the Israelites were traveling the land killing the unbelievers. They had the same mind set as the Muslims of today. The Koran preaches that unbelievers must be killed. I’ve read some of it – not all of it.

I don’t know what the attraction to Islam is – maybe someone can shed some light here. But the need for religion for a lot of people is clear. They are afraid of life and especially death. Could be the 72 virgins. Give me a lady that knows what she’s doing.

Fundamentalist are the same in any religion. The have a strong belief in the WORD. Fundamentalist Christians believe the every word of the Bible comes directly from God Himself. They discount the many translations and people that have put it together. Not to mention the myriad things that don’t make sense.

Fundamentalist Muslims are appeased when the unbelievers are killed. Like wise Fundamentalist Christians are appease when fundamentalist Muslims (unbelievers) are killed.

    Stress Fundamentalist.

That is how they are appeased on both sides. An eye for an eye.

I can still sign you up for that imbedded chip. What do you say – it is for True Patriots.
    -be seeing you

  13. why do you keep bringing up fundamentalist christians. when’s the last time they hijacked jet liners and flew them into buildings full of innocent bystanders??? the US was founded by christians with a freedom of religion clause. I don’t understand what you are saying or what your plan to stop islamic terrorists is.

  14. >Kent-

Dude, I can see now that you are fully indoctrinate and are possibly incapable of having a rational conversation without insults.

You are only able to hear what you want to hear.

    The answer is quite clear.
As we go forth, we will continue to fight “terrorism” all the while squelching freedoms and liberties of our own – just to be sure that your are not a terrorist too. Fascism will become predominant over our lives as government and capitalism become more united. The war will continue.

You and your children will be presumed terrorists if you don’t submit to identity chips for identification.

Transactions will be tracked on how you spend it through microchips imbedded into the cash or credit card use.

You will be owned by the corporations as an indentured servant. You will always be tracked if you choose to live in society.

Or we can take an alternative route. Stop the war.

Oh and the United States was NOT founded by the Pilgrims. Contrary to what you might think at Thanksgiving.
