This is by far one of the best product demos I have seen. The naysayers who did not think there was enough in the demo are blown smoke out of their proverbial okolies (Hawaiian term – I bet you can figure it out) – camera! Come on – I know you need to get cinema quality capture of the dog pi$$in’ on your friends Zune so that you can instantly upload it to YouTube! (now that’s an idea. !!!

I feel that this little ditty is (as has already been said) the begining of the approach to multiple vids – either by support vids or by AppleCasts…
doesn’t matter. And this one was directed to the business market – trust me.
Good work !!!
hee hee hee…
@Zorrin
Whoa, I just realized there were 2 ‘Dave’ people posting here. Hah! I’m gonna get more creative with my username to reduce confusion.
This is a brilliant move.

1. It feeds us iPhone early adopters with enough information to walk in the door of a store with a much shorter learning curve.
2. It gives us crazy, foaming-at-the-mouth fanboys some information to feed to our spouses with the checkbooks and credit cards.
3. It will drive even more anticipation of what we’re still not seeing while quieting down the FUD distributors on some crucial points.
Steve Jobs and his team are the textbook example of corporate, money-making genius.
Brilliant!
Anybody notice the date on the NY Times Web page? It was January 2007. I know, I know, this is useless info for sure but it shows how long this promo piece has been in production.
Can’t wait to see the next info nugget they’ll spoon feed us.
The Google Maps feature with traffic update is perfect. (well almost)
Anybody know definitively if its going to have voice dialing?
The other thing I hope it has (besides the swipe to unlock the keys) is some sort of password for unlocking it. There really is a lot of personal information on these things that would fall into the wrong hands if one of these things is lost or stolen.

Re: camera
I think they didn´t show us anything about that cuz theyre gonna give the iPhone at least a 3 mp camera á la CyberShot with some nifty syncing with iPhoto 7 !
Yeah, I just got my e-mail pointing me to the iPhone, site and I downloaded the video. I can’t wait to see it. Fantastic!
I really wonder if Apple made a video demonstration of the iPhone in response to benjamin1272’s YouTube video of the Chinese knock-off tPhone. 😀
sublime stuff, a perfect (the first one) implementation of a phone.
it could have more features, without compromising the UI at all (merging SMS and chat, voice and VOIP, vidéo and iChat vidéo), but there has never been a phone like this, or any product.
My local AT&T store better have 8 gigs in stock. I’ll be there a couple hours early to make sure i get my brand new iPhone. Finally, we are one week away from this beautiful apple product. YES!
the discussion about ringtones is a bit absurd.
1 why does it really mather, u want to be original ?
2 nothing in this video says that u can’t customize your ringtone
let’s discuss what it shows, not what it doesn’t

@Towny, the iPhone IS a Mac, and it’s also the best accessory for a Mac.
It’s a phone
At 1:20 in the video, he says something like “from the home screen, you can access any one of the 16 applications”.
Is he referring to the 12 apps plus the phone, mail, safari, and iPod? Or is there 4 more apps to come?
In any case, why does the clock not work? It’s always 9:42.
If QuickLook in Leopard can display MS documents, why wouldn’t the iPhone be able to?
Apple bought a company about 2 years ago that specialized in MS format compatibility. Now we know what they’ve been working on.
RINGTONES ARE FOR LITTLE GIRLS AND FAGGOTS!
So Sweet! I want my iPhone right now!
There will be shortages… big shortages… Apple can´t make these things as fast as they sell… There is way too few people in the China to produce this… They have to make more Chinese first!
Panic! Supply and demand don´t meet!
MDN magic word: square
It should be sweet! Damn it! Sweet as AAPL $500!
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smirk” style=”border:0;” />
I really need my iPhone fix! Medics! Help!
Ed… Did I steal your MDN magic word?
Sorry! I wanted it to be SWEET!
The minute I saw the traffic demo, I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of Garmin and TomTom employees suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly laid off.
For The Win.

ChrissyOne! You felt it too! There will be even bigger disturbance in the Force when Nokia employees that now celebrate The Midnight Sun goes back to the Nokia quarters on monday and realizes what has happened!
I bought more AAPL and now taking a snaps of Votka to celebrate!
Actually, as far as I believe, Apple did do a similar ‘guided tour’ for OS X (Tiger specifically). Initially, it was broadcast as a 15 min infomercial at the 4AM slot, before el presidente Steve decided that was too lowbrow for Apple.
So it ended up buried somewhere on Apple.com as a QT movie. May have the link somewhere (if they still have it up)…
“It’s a phone”
No, it’s a dessert topping. AND a floor wax.
Actually I believe the guy said there were EIGHTEEN applications on the phone, and I believe I saw a right arrow at the top of the home screen, indicating a second page of icons.
Given the way Apple has been doling out tidbits on this product, why would anyone believe that we have now seen everything the iPhone has to offer?
There’s still a week to go, people… plenty of time for more announcements.
Chill out. All will be revealed by the 29th. It should be clear by now that there’s no point making a judgement til then.
