A lesser-known independent research shop, Loop Capital Markets, has downgraded Apple (AAPL) stock from Buy to Hold and cut its price target to $330 from $370, arguing the shares are fully valued near current levels and require a fresh catalyst to advance.
Analyst Ananda Baruah wrote that the firm still likes Apple’s longer-term market-share gains and services narrative. However, new data on iPhone shipments has shifted its view. After Apple reportedly reduced projected unit shipments for the September and December quarters by 10%, Loop had expected much of the shortfall to be recovered in 2027 on the assumption the cuts were primarily supply-related. “This no longer appears to be the case,” the note said, pointing instead toward softer demand. The firm also flagged potential gross-margin pressure from rising memory costs and said the stock “requires a fundamental catalyst reset” after recent appreciation.
Apple shares have traded near $343, up roughly 26% year-to-date and at multi-year valuation highs, so the new $330 target implies only modest downside of about 4%. Loop Capital is a Chicago-based independent firm of roughly 250–300 employees, focused more on public finance and mid-market work than on the large-scale equity research platforms of the major Wall Street banks. Its call sits outside the mainstream consensus, where a clear majority of covering analysts continue to rate Apple a “Buy” or equivalent, with average price targets still above current levels.
MacDailyNews Take: This move by boutique Loop Capital Markets has not shifted the broader Street’s largely constructive stance on Apple’s services growth and installed-base economics. No major investment or research firm has issued a comparable rating cut on these specific shipment concerns.

Shipment component orders down due to production limits.
No. It’s due to demand.
All sources and rumors with zero validation – as always.
It’s called stock manipulation and I wish the SEC and FBI did some work to bust this game. But no. It will continue.
I’ve seen this – we all have – for 20 years now. All the seam. Momentary lapse in stock and Apple just keeps proving everyone inaccurate and how they continue to grow share and shipments. Period.
