In an interview about her upcoming memoir, “My Name is Barbra,” the two-time Oscar-winner told the BBC that she was fed up with Siri getting her name wrong, so she called Apple CEO Tim Cook and got him to put in th order to fix it.
“My name isn’t spelled with a ‘Z’,” she argued. “It’s Strei-sand, like sand on the beach. How simple can you get?”
In a move most of us could only dream of, the now 81-year-old called up Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, to complain, she told the UK media company in an interview published Monday.
“And Tim Cook was so lovely. He had Siri change the pronunciation… I guess that’s one perk of fame!” she said, according to the BBC.

I wonder if there’s now an explicit “if (detectedName.contains(“Streisand”))…” rather than actually fixing Siri properly 🙂
I tried her name on various ways and I came up with her name correctly spelled. I think with her is the way she says her name. I do have some of those misspelled words. I think it needs algorithm to learn your pronunciation of the individual.
Only a self-absorbed, over the hill Primadonna could actually care about how Siri pronounces her name
Amen!…
Jobs is dead…
Absolutely NOT! Yes, Jobs had an ego. But it was used to extract excellenece from himself and everyone around him to be their best. As a Tech Titan his designs and vision changed the WORLD like no pioneer since Henry Ford, Edison and the Wright Brothers. Contrast that, with a VANITY celibritard that mouths words written by someone else in movies, that any actor pro or amateur in their high school play can accomplish. Get a grip…
It’s like making a mistake in the ‘original’ for photocopies. If you don’t get it right at the source all your ‘product’ will have the same mistake. Not so bad when you only make a few (a pen might be used to correct it), but when it’s much more widespread you’d also be concerned in getting it right before it is more widespread.
Nice that she’s privileged enough to do that. The rest of us used to post on Apple support, now that is being taken away, and I guess celebrities are the only people that will get a response from Apple. I am ashamed that I ever defended this company, and now, rather than on a car, the stickers go straight into the trash. If Tim Cook hadn’t come in with preexisting cash reserves beyond the skies, Apple would likely be dead today. Again. Steve was brilliant in everything but picking his successor. It’s true one can’t predict the changing landscape of technology; but one can choose a person or team with a shred of ethics and vision. Steve didn’t, sadly.
