MacDailyNews Take: It’s snappy!
fantastic – installed and runs beautiful
thx Apple
beautiful? Not to these eyes.
I don’t consider bug fix releases to be progress. People here used to make fun of Windows for endless bug fixes. Well, Apple is now doing the same thing.
So while it is fun to poke at Windows for having a terrible interface, at least Microsuck is expanding the functionality of its OS and, yes, bowing to the backlash from its desktop users.
Timid Tim and his minions aren’t putting forth anywhere near that level of effort. Instead of enhancing functions, Apple is dumbing things down. Disk Utility is so far outclassed by 3rd party utilities, it is an embarrassment. Email handling using Apple’s default Mail is a crapshoot. WiFi flakiness is still not over for some users. Spotlight with web junk has gotten worse, not better. Any my goodness, what a hacked up GUI. OS X hasn’t been truly beautiful in years. It’s plain, flat, boring, and hard to read. What’s worse, as the current GUI designers continue to screw up, functionality suffers. Commands are hidden behind meaningless icons and access is complicated by awkward multi-key commands. Intelligent file metadata is long gone, replaced by stupid Windows file extensions. Useful features have been removed, you can’t even color tag files effectively.
I don’t think I’m alone in seeing that Apple is totally losing focus of the user. Tim cares only about iOS software sales, subscription based services, and overpriced connector adapter sales. Those of you who think Mac sales are strong because of OS X are missing the hidden reality: well-heeled computer users love tough aluminum laptops, but the vast majority of them rely on Parallels or some other utility to run the Windows programs they need. And Apple is doing NOTHING to garner better 3rd party Mac software development. Actually, the opposite is true. Apple’s own Mac software development is showing the world new levels of suckitude. Exhibit #1: look at iTunes 12. Hell, Sonos offers a better software interface. Exhibit #2: Calendar. Absolute rubbish, totally unusable. Exhibit #3 … well, you get the point. I have seriously investigated what it would take to revert all our machines back to Snow Leopard, the last efficient and powerful version of OS X.
A new Mac software leadership team is desperately required to start improving the user experience, and a modern OS XI with improved file system and a more skeu/user-friendly interface can’t come soon enough.
Installed on MBP with no problems…..
Installed on MacBook Pro, does not fix the problem where MBP does not re-establish connection to WiFi after sleeping. Still have to turn WiFi off and on to get it to connect.
I’ve had it do that to me a few times, but not enough to really bug me. But, if it did it every time I’d be going nuts. I use an older style Time Capsule and it works pretty good for the most part.
Huh, doesn’t show up for me in the Store, or at the link ; (
Oh yeah, probably cos I’m already running the 10.11.4 Beta. Oops.
Installed on Mac mini core-i7. No issues so far.
So glad to find out that at least the bugs have not been fixed! Fourth version, still kaput.
Ha, no more backlit keyboard at bootup for those who use FileVault. The backlight will only switch on after it knows you are you. FAIL! I loved the backlight so I could easily type my password, which, obviously, happens before it is turned on …. my my my, no more testing shit, eh?
