Apple fixes that odd Siri glitch

“As of Thursday, saying the words ‘charge my phone 100 percent’ into some iPhones caused the devices to automatically start calling emergency services,” Karissa Giuliano reports for CNBC.

“Depending on which particular version of iOS your device currently has installed,” Giuliano reports, “Siri will now reply to the command with ‘I can’t do that for you. My apologies,’ or ‘Surprisingly, that is not within my capabilities. ‘”

MacDailyNews Take: We just tested it. “Charge my phone 100 percent” and variations of the phrase now all result in Siri apologizing in some fashion for not being able to complete the request.

    1. Having a Y chromosome does not prevent you from being female. There are a surprising number of women who have a Y chromosome but no one would ever question them being female. they’ve had a female body their entire life. It’s called Complete Androgen Insensitivity (CAIS). Basically they have all the genetics they would need to be male (XY chromosome) but their body never responded to testosterone to develop male parts.

Of course this is different then Caitlyn Jenner. She doesn’t have this syndrome but your definition for male, female is flawed. What makes us male or female is far more intricate then just a chromosome.

All that aside, Caitlyn Jenner has had her name legally changed. Her gender reassignment is also legally recognized. Nothing you can do will change that.

        1. Thank you, just like the various attempts to “legislate” one of the most important numbers of nature, pi=3.14159…, as being exactly 3. Then all circles would be ovals, and we would call them circles!

      1. This is an extremely rare case, out of the norm, a syndrome no less.

It does show that looking at only XY chromosomal patterns is the minimum requirement for being male. As you report, other factors, can rarely come into play. What gene is responsible for CAIS, thus overriding the male promoting characteristics of the Y chromosome? Oh, btw, the afflicted people are infertile.

I wish anyone a happy life, as long as they don’t harm me. When it comes to science, facts, not emotions, or opinions rule. This can best be seen as extreme under-masculinization.

        “If you got a Y, you’re a guy!”.

Thanks for a very interesting point.

    2. I don’t comprehend Caitlyn either. But we all choose our own lives. For her it’s a positive choice and apparently hurts no one. So I’ll just shut up and offer my good will.

Except for those shoes Caitlyn! Just because skyscraper spike heals are ‘in fashion’ doesn’t mean they’re sensible shoes. (She nearly fell off the stairs at the ESPY awards).
