Microsoft releases Office for Mac 2011 14.5.1 update

Microsoft has released Office for Mac 2011 14.5.1 Update.

This update fixes critical issues and also helps to improve security. It includes fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer’s memory with malicious code.

This update fixes an issue that causes the main window not to open in Outlook for Mac 2011.

Applies to: Office 2011, Office 2011 Home and Business Edition, Word 2011, Excel 2011, PowerPoint 2011, Outlook 2011, Office for Mac Standard 2011 Edition, Microsoft Office for Mac Home & Student 2011, and Microsoft Office for Mac Academic 2011.

    1. Actually, if Microsoft is fixing security holes on old software, then I have to give them some credit. Contrast that approach with Google, who cannot be bothered with patching software that is currently in use in tens of millions of Android phones.

      Given the choice, I will take Microsoft, and that is saying something coming from a die-hard Apple fan from the late 1970s who suffered through the late 1980s and 1990s.

  1. How can you release an update that prevents the main Outlook window from opening and not notice? Bizarre! Thank god for Time Machine which quickly undid that nightmare for my customers who suffered as a result. Question is does 14.5.1 break anything else? I think 14.4.9 will do for now…
