    1. To be fair, Apple did keep iOS 8 secret until about 3 months ago. And then expressly prevented developers from even preparing to begin to update their apps until iOS 8 was released to the general public last week.

      1. What are you talking about? How many beta versions were available to developers to fix problems exactly like this? Why do you think there were literally dozens (probably hundreds) of updates ready to go in the days immediately before and after IOS 8 went live?

  1. I still get the notifications so I’ll keep a safari page open. I just changed my iP5’s battery so I’m not going for the iP6(+) but I am enjoying the news of the wake their launch is causing… 🙂

  2. Well thanks and all, but I warned you about incompatibilities MONTHS AGO in Beta 1 and reminded you AGAIN when Gold Master was released over a week ago. Hopefully it’s optimized for the new iPhone screens as well.

Thanks for keeping it updated quickly though, unlike the updates we saw for iOS 6 and iPhone 5.

  3. MDN, as a fellow developer I would suggest that you’re not helping your case when you claim that crashing bugs are minor. The app crashed under iOS 7, too, and you should have been getting those crash reports. It has only intensified under iOS 8. Whoever you outsourced this to is not providing you with a quality product and service. And no, I’m not chasing your ambulance.

    1. I agree. A bug that crashes your app a few seconds after launching is not minor. It may be easy to fix, but if so, why wasn’t it fixed during the beta phase? Sounds like someone was arguing for doing nothing until the app was released, so they could consolidate all the reported bugs in one fix. Or, perhaps to simplify diagnosing the location of the bug by getting many more data points after launch. Sounds like someone was either being lazy, or cheap.

  4. Really? It’s quite obvious that MSN app crashed through every beta of iOS 8 – why? On purpose because beta apps do not load your iAds and earn you clicks. After beta 2 I had hardly any problems with any apps apart from MDN app, which failed all the way through. And noooooooow you fix it? You know that a large base of your users would have been running seta software from June until earlier this week.

You forced us to use Safari. You are as sick as Google and SameCopy MDN. Please don’t try to think of yourselves as any better.

Shame on you MDN, shame on you.

  5. MDN runs their web and app development with a bucket full of arrogance and hypocracy. Anything that doesn’t generate revenue is not given any attention. There’s very little attention paid to user experience until it starts affecting their revenue. Shameful way to run a business, and they hype Apple’s complete opposite approach on a daily basis.

  6. Come on you bunch of whiners! MDN reports on Apple and their great products but we don’t subscribe to their standard. We do whatever it takes to make money and your user experience is far down the list.

We know that most readers turn to MDN mostly to read the comments from you who post here but we really don’t see you as a source of revenue. We want the gullible readers who click through our ads for ‘a mother in your city makes $87/hr’.
