“Parallel universes are always fun to contemplate,” Chris Matyszczyk reports for CNET. “So please mount the No. 42 bus with me to a world in which Tim Cook is still COO of Apple and Steve Wozniak is calling the shots.”
“Here’s what would be happening: Apple and Google would be deep and loving partners and would share all their knowledge in one vast openfest,” Matyszczyk reports. “Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak gave an interview to the BBC, in which he said: ‘I wish to God that Apple and Google were partners in the future.’ But when pressed as to how realistic it would be that Apple and Google would ever cuddle up and make nice, he was vigorous in his feelings. ‘I don’t know. If I were there, it would be pretty likely,’ he said. ‘I’m probably wrong, there’s probably an awful lot I don’t know about the business concerns, and one thing you’ve got to remember is a company has always got to make money.'”
Matyszczyk writes, “Oh, to hell with business. What’s business ever done for most of humanity, other than corrupt, enslave and bore?”
MacDailyNews Take: Woz on his Segway attending to some businessNo offense, Woz, but if you were running Apple, Eric T. Mole would have stolen the entire company, not to mention the shirt off your back. It’s bad enough that Steve Jobs himself let him have a seat at the table in the first place – and then let him stay for so long (at least Steve hid the iPad from him).
Regardless, we love Woz. He sees the world through the eyes of a child.
Here’s what Google’s Android looked like before and after Apple’s iPhone:
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “Fred Mertz” for the heads up.]
If Woz was running Apple, it would be a wholly owned by Google. It may even be closed from bankruptcy. In any case, Steve did the right thing and let Woz roam freely about the world and not around Apple’s R&D.
Made me shake with fear. Typical BBC that they made such a big thing of an interview that indirectly attacks everything that Apple stands for, if somewhat obliquely in this case.
Thank heaves he’s not running Apple, a company that understands copyright laws and users rights to personal privacy. Not so for Google, a company that continuously chips away, without respect, at personal privacy and digital ownership rights. That said, yes there could be some benefits if the big G would do no evil. Now I’m off the check the latest updates on Google 🙂
I have said this many times here, but I am getting really sick and tired of some ppl bad mouthing Wozzie..have you forgotten the contributions Woz did for Apple in the early years? Yes, I guess you have..
Steve was the visionary (he did not know how to write code at all) and Woz was there as the tech guy (the one I looked up to even more than SJ in those days, later it was more SJ)..they complemented each other extremely well.
Ok, so his comments don’t always align well with Apple but give the guy some slack and leverage on these issues already…I mean c’mon..he has earned our respect and then some.
1. apple is still working with Google
2. when Apple shared more with Google like having Schmidt on the Board, Google ripped off Apple IP
3. Apple had an agreement with google for Google Search etc yet Google treated Apple like Second Class citizen vs Android like giving Android Turn by Turn but not providing it to iOS. If Apple didn’t move forward itself Google (with it’s zero morality attitudes ) would continually short change apple to promote android. Android will always get the better features faster.
(note Goog maps for iOS only got turn by turn AFTER Apple moved with it’s own maps. The fact that Goog turn by turn could be implemented so quickly for iOS shows Google was screwing with apple for two years).
Apple trusting Goog completely without their own back up plan is naive.
What’s wrong Woz, have you not been in the news lately? Need some attention?
How about you just STFU.

WozzieFan
Woz should just shut up. He hasn’t been relevant for 30 years and just says whatever come ins into his head and its rarely useful or interesting.
was he really even a close friend of Steve, when he died?
Ok that pic is the best thing that could have followed that article lol MDN is hilarious at times

Woz “was”. Time to move on.
