  1. Ten years ago Apple took two weeks to make quarterly report.

Later, they made it into three weeks.

    Now, it is a month.

(For comparison, some of even bigger companies compile reports in two weeks.)

    1. Apple’s internal rules don’t allow it to issue guidance on unannounced products. They are delaying the report, which always includes guidance for the following quarter, so that they can include new products not yet announced in that guidance. Apple will announce new products on the 22nd (or so).

Or you can choose to believe that there’s something wrong with Apple, and it’s accounting department, and they simply can’t do the math that quickly if that makes you feel better.

      1. New products could be related, but when Apple makes guidance it does not cite any concrete products anyway. Also, I did not write that there is necessary something “wrong” with Apple. They just became one of the slowest in the accounting. I can name only one giant company that is slower than Apple — Gazprom (which had $38 billion in net profits last year), it takes not even month, but month and a half to compile report.
