Analysts buzzing over potential Apple-China Mobile deal

“Analysts are buzzing this morning with speculation that Apple will soon announce a deal with China Mobile,” Jack Purcher reports for Patently Apple.

China.org quotes Anand Ramachandran, a telecoms analyst at Barclays in Singapore stating that ‘The circumstances and the issues that were a hindrance in the past seem to be getting resolved. So I think there’s a higher probability that potentially there’s something in the works,’ between Apple and China Mobile,” Purcher reports. “The buzz continues as KGI’s analyst weighs in on the an Apple-China-Mobile deal this year.”

    1. yeah right! Timmy still cannot close the deal China Mobile. If Apple
and China Mobile still don’t have any deal by years end, guess what
      Timmy should do? QUIT? RETIRE?

        1. You just do not get it.
Apple needs China. Apple does not need China Mobile.

No crap apps preinstalled on the iPhone.
No China Mobile logo on the outside of the iPhone.
Take it or leave it. If CM does not like it, well…
It will just take a little longer for the other Chinese phone companies that do carry the iPhone to eat China Mobile for lunch. 😎

  1. Face it: you’re a fanboy (or a troll). Otherwise, you wouldn’t hang out here. We drool over every rumor, every technical tidbit about Apple. We dream of what could be from Jonathan Ive and his team, both for hardware and software.

Often however, what makes a company dynamic (and profitable) is not just a sexy new product or slick app. In the case of Apple, it can also be a hard won deal with a movie studio, a record company or in the case of China Mobile, a major telco opening the door to hundreds of millions of potential customers.

Negotiations for a deal of this size can drag on for years. Both sides want to win and be profitable. Size can breed hubris and arrogance. Lawyers and financial experts from both sides can get locked into a dragged out stalemate. I can only imagine the efforts to make a deal of this size happen would boggle our minds.

For Apple, to secure distribution rights with China Mobile would be as big an announcement as a splashy new product. Increasingly, China has become crucial to the company’s growth, and my hunch is that rumors of a low-cost iPhone, and even a champagne-colored iPhone are indicative of the efforts Apple is making to secure a deal with China Mobile.

As a stockholder, my fingers are crossed. If Apple can win this deal, all of us should congratulate Tim Cook and his team on being persistent for so many years in making it happen.

      Just Wrong.
It’s not because of “China Mobile”.
No crap apps preinstalled on the iPhone.
No China Mobile logo on the outside of the iPhone.
