“After a pair of iPhone-related electrocutions in China allegedly caused by unauthorized third-party chargers, Apple has added a section to its Chinese website helping users identify official iOS device chargers,” AppleInsider reports.
“The page offers a look at official charger designs for the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad mini, iPad with Retina display, and iPad 2,” AppleInsider reports. “The official chargers that come packaged with new iPhones and iPads are also designed to meet government safety standards from around the world.”

How about making your official peripherals, chargers and adapters a lot cheaper than what it is Apple, instead of overcharging your customers and nickel and diming them to death.
Horrible profit oriented company.
There was an in-depth article on ?ArsTechnica? recently that showed oscilloscope readouts of the direct current output from Apple chargers versus those cheap models. Scary stuff. I’ll pay a bit more for the good stuff, thank you very much.
Let’s forget about doing reliability testing. Let’s forget about quality parts. Let’s forget about safety inspections. Let’s just make the same cheap crap that electrocutes everyone. Let’s just put an Apple sticker on them and sell them really cheap. Wouldn’t that be a masterful touché against crappy knockoffs.
NOT!
BLN,
You pay for the quality, and as the other poster had mentioned, Apples chargers are made with quality in mind, a few extra dollars is worth the piece of mind that gives.
And for some unfortunately it isn’t, we all have a choice like it or not.
And if your still not convinced Apples Quality surpasses other manufactures and the cost is not worth it, This will prove that your Cheaper statement is just that a “CHEAP” shot at Apple without knowing any facts.

As steve jobs once said…..if you don’t want it, don’t buy it.
If you don’t like what you bought, return it.
Here the message that Steve delivered on the iPhone. It applies to ALL Apple products.
Sorry, couldn’t resist.
You cheapskate. If you cannot afford to play in Apple’s league you need to get a big ass droid phone. You would be happier and god knows we all would be too.
You sir, are a right nut.
Wait, BLN is being anti-capitalism? Is this backwards day?
Apple charger comes with Apple devices.
Maybe you should protect your Apple device investment & buy Apple chargers?
Penny wise & dollar foolish.
“The official chargers that come packaged with new iPhones and iPads are also designed to meet government safety standards from around the world.”
So, BLN, if its supplied with the device, how are Apple overcharging? (Pun intended). There are dozens of cheaper 3rd party chargers available if needed, which are cheaper than the Apple ones, and meet appropriate standards.
But you’re too much of an asshole to be able to grasp that simple fact.
You get what you pay for, and no, they are not over-priced and they also are compact and not fugly to boot!
Here is the article that tests several Apple chargers and numerous others:

BLN,
Just stop buying apple gear then. Save your pennies and one day you might just have enough to get yourself a right nut. For sure you need it. 🙂
Well, now the Chinese manufacturers will know just what features to reproduce …
