“Apple will likely begin its annual Back to School promotion this week (perhaps as soon as tomorrow), according to Apple retail sources,” Mark Gurman reports for 9to5Mac.
“The promotion will give eligible students an iTunes/App Store gift card with the purchase of a Mac, iPad, and for the first time, an iPhone,” Gurman reports. “The gift cards that come with Mac purchases will be worth 100$ while the cards accompanying the iOS Devices will be worth $50.”

Gurman reports, “Apple will market these gift cards as credit for purchasing educational-centric apps, but, like an iTunes card, will work across the board for any media from the iTunes Store, App Stores, and iBookstore.”

I liked getting an iPod free with my new Mac Book Pro. That was the best.
Yes… long gone. The free printer deal was also very nice, not so much for the printer itself, but for the cartridges that come with it.
Have you noticed that current printers for sale actually say that “Starter cartridges included” — meaning you will need to buy “real” cartridges pretty quickly.
That was definitely the best promo Apple ever had for Back To School.
The gift card is still a nice touch. I guess we got spoiled.
