Bug in Apple Java update now fixed, check to see that you have correct version

“A Java update issued by Apple through Software Update last week contained a bug that could stop some Java applications working,” Ben Lovejoy reports for 9to5Mac.

“Apple fixed the bug and released a new update, but if you did the software update soon after it was made available, you may have the old version installed,” Lovejoy reports. “Try Software Update first, then use the following terminal command to check which version you have installed… [If] Software Update hasn’t sorted it, then you can manually download and install the corrected version from the Apple support site.”

  1. That’s not good. I’ve only got version 11M4406. Checked Apple update and lo and behold there was the new version ready to install. Now all is good with the world.
