A Romney win would hurt Apple very badly – Nigam Arora

“A Romney win would hurt Apple and General Motors very badly,” Nigam Arora writes for Forbes.

“Both of these companies are highly dependent on China for their growth,” Arora writes. “Romney has repeatedly stated that he will declare China a currency manipulator on his first day in office. Such a declaration would likely lead to a trade war.”

Arora writes, “Chinese consumers are nationalistic… Apple will find itself in a much worse position than General Motors. Apple will be hit with a double whammy, falling sales and falling margins… In my analysis, a trade war would result in Apple stock falling under $400.”

  1. It is simple, Romney will take us back to the stone age, Obama will move us forward. Anybody that cannot see that is whacked. And no, Romney will not magically create jobs overnight like he claims. But I guess if Ryan just prays, all will happen as planned, like his kids homework being done, because they ‘prayed’. smirk.

  2. This is baloney. Romney’s action, if taken, would spur earnest negotiations to come to a workable solution to China’s refusal to allow its currency to trade on world markets. And while the Chinese may be nationalistic, they LOVE their Buicks and iPhones. Chinese factories need U.S. consumers as much as we need our products made there. Demand will force their government to negotiate and compromise.

  3. Apple has seen the writing on the wall and that is why they are moving production to Brazil. China can’t sustain the work at their current price point forever and that will cause everyone who builds there to scramble and find an alternate solution. Apple once again is thinking far ahead of everyone else.

  4. the reality is just by being elected Romney will create 12 million plus jobs because many small and big business owners want him elected and are unsure about Obama’s recovery plan his instigating class warfare. unemployment will dramatically drop if Romney is elected

    1. Economists have already stated that the 12 million jobs Romney talks about will actually not be that many more than will be created no matter who wins. It’s just like his Jeep statement that Chrysler execs had to come right out and say it’s false.

    2. Yep, I talked to the 7-11 owner on the corner today and he’s definitely optimistic. If Romney wins he’ll add a Slurpee machine and another 15 hour per week, minimum wage clerk, with no benefits and no future. Yep, Romney will solve the unemployment problem!

  5. A Willard RobbedMe election would hurt Apple because it would hurt America. That pandering bast’d would tell you he was Obama if he thought it would get him elected.

  6. All you guys should should live in Australia, here we have a similar political situation in 2013. We can choose between ‘dumb’ and ‘dumber’! Have a nice day regardless of whom wins in your country.

  7. Now that this election is over and Obama destroyed Dick Cheney’s malfunctioning roomba known as Mitt Romney, where and when can I start donating to the Biden/Clinton 2016 campaign?

  8. I really do not need to read te article to reply t this. But I’m voting for what I think is best for the country as a whole, not for what’s best for a single company. Sorry.

  9. Give me some of that Obama money!!!! I am entitled to it because I am unemployed, fat, lazy, and therefore disabled! Also, I deserve one of those fancy smart tones. Obama, please give me one of them ifones!

    1. $10,000 says you are exactly undereducated, quite poor, and of a well below average IQ.

I know you are far too simple to be self aware enough to know when someone talks as you do, there is zero doubt I’d be making $10k right now.

      1. haha.. i was alluding to romney’s preferred bet 😉

        But you are definitely right.

And now he can go sulk in his hole, along with half the people who turn this tech site into a political garbage rag for another 3 years.

  10. I guess that as of 9:30 MST, this post is moot. The republicans can cry and point their fingers for the next 4 years. The democrats must now insure that he finishes the job. So move along, there’s nothing to see here anymore…
