Apple launches Back to School 2012: Buy a Mac, Get $100; Buy an iPad, Get $50

Apple has launched their Back to School 2012 promotion.

Buy a Mac for college between June 11 and September 21 and receive a $100 Back to School Gift Card to use on apps, books, music, and movies. Or buy the new iPad (3rd generation with Retina display) and get a $50 Back to School Gift Card. And if you choose a Mac, save even more with Apple Education Pricing.

Buy a qualifying Mac or iPad from the Apple Online Store for Education, the Apple Retail Store, or an Apple Authorized Campus Store, and you’ll receive your Back to School Gift Card with your purchase.

To qualify for the Back to School Card offer and to get special pricing on a Mac at the Apple Online Store for Education, you must be a college student, a student accepted to a college, a parent buying for a college student, or a faculty or staff member from any grade level.

he Mac or iPad must be purchased from Apple or a participating Apple Authorized Campus Store from June 11, 2012, through September 21, 2012. Purchaser must be eligible for Apple Education Individual Pricing; education pricing is not available for iPad.   1. I was really hoping the rumor was true on this one, that they would give away the choice of $100 or an Apple TV. Same value, but, as I understand it, the gift card is iTunes only, and can’t be used in an Apple Store.

Gone are the days of free $100 printer and free iPod touch during back-to-school… That’s too bad; last time around, I squeezed two iPod touches and two printers out of my refresh cycle (one of each went straight to eBay, conveniently lowering my already low educational pricing). This way, I get some free apps/songs/movies/TV shows…
