Verizon pushing Microsoft Windows Phones over Apple iPhone?

“Evidence is mounting that Verizon may be pushing Windows Phones over iPhones to customers not sure on which smartphone handset to purchase,” Mark Reschke reports for T-GAAP. “Whether these are isolated incidents at a few stores, or a nationwide push by Microsoft to force their way into the smartphone war is not yet clear.”

“Microsoft attempting to inject themselves into markets they completely missed or believe is critical to the company is nothing new for the Redmond giant,” Reschke reports. “The likely game this go around is to spiff local Verizon representatives with per-handset bonus cash or via weekly/monthly sales totals.”

Reschke reports, “One T-GAAP-er just told us they went seeking a smartphone and were leaning towards an iPhone. The Verizon representatives highly suggested she should get a Windows phone instead. When the customer (she) decided upon an iPhone and wanted to know the difference between the iPhone 4 and 4S, the sales person became rude, rolled her eyes, and simply went through the motions to sell the phone.”

MacDailyNews Take: If true, Apple would be wise to nip this in the bud as this has “Sears,” written all over it. (As in, salespeople from Sears et al. for years pushed shitty Windows PCs over superior Macs – which they neglected and often never even turned on – in order to cash in bribes (spiffs) paid by Windows PC makers.)

Has anyone else witnessed Verizon Wireless salespeople pushing Windows Phone or other phones over Apple iPhones?

  1. Verizon is planning to offer the most beautiful Nokia Lumia 900 in May, this year. 🙂
I hate iphone, it has 3rd class battery.
iphone fans, I can see the smoke coming from your As*

    LOL

      1. She/He (?) may be an ass, and the Lumia 900 can’t possibly compete spec-wise with an iPhone (206 ppi screen? Single-core processor?), but the Lumia 800 is a great smartphone, and I would’ve bought it over my 4S if it didn’t have PenTile and a 16GB limit.

    1. Actually have heard good thing about the 900, from reviews on specs, as well as from reps. Will have to check it out when it arrives. Meanwhile, iPhones are in my household, thank you. And to clarify LuLu; no battery issues on any of the 3 I own so far. As for usability, it tops any phone I have ever owned. This is what I concern myself with. As for hating anything, I’ll leave that to others. Peace to you

      1. LOL

You know what? Whole world knows that you guys are the biggest terrorists.

One more thing, for your IT needs, you guys come to India to get fucked by Indians. 😉

You guys are borrowing money from China, and paying half of it to India. hahahaha

  2. My local ATT store manager told me that her regional manager told the local staff to ditch their iPhones in the store and to use and push Microsoft phones instead. She was not happy.

  3. The main reason why carriers are pushing android phones and windows phones over the iPhone is mainly because they receive only $1 in commission, which is peanuts, an AT&T salesman told me that. They received the least amount of commission and that’s why the iPhone is a nightmare to carriers, well the people working there.

  4. I’m sorry, this is nothing new and therefore nothing suprising. This kind of thing has been going on since Best Buy first put Macs on its shelfes back in the early-mid ’90s.

And if someone and MDN is making a list, then yea… Check out the Verizon store in Marion, IL. Walk in there and try and buy anything except what the snippy little sales lady behind the counter wants you to buy, (and that’s never ever an iPhone or any Apple product including iPads), and she becomes rude and the broad-shouldered-bouncer styled make behind her starts acting llke your causing trouble.

    Am I exaggerating? No.

  5. Apple doesn’t make special offers to the teleco companies. If the iphone lose its fashion moment, apple will have to sell them at a cheaper price. Is a better business to sell windows phone… If the people want to buy them

  6. I have seen this twice with the launch of the new iPad in NYC.
Salesperson continued to push windows and andriod phones when they repeatedly asked for iPhones. One person walked out of store.
West 34th street store even tried to sell me andriod tablet over the new iPad on its launch Friday.

    1. I agree, Verizon has one Windows phone and its already outdated. I can’t see them pitching it over the Droids of which they have the preferred carrier status with Motorola.

      1. If these As*holes say something bad about India, then I have to clear few things in their heads. 😉
This war of words is not about Windows phone. 🙂
I just want to see the smoke coming from the As* of these iphone fans. LOL

Now you guys are our slaves, for every kind of help, your country need us. But we Indians really respect you guys, because you are giving us the jobs. hahahaha
        😉

  7. I found a woman who bought a Verizon iPhone 4 and at the same time they sold her a Samsung Tablet last summer. Although it had bee a couple of months since it happened (receipt said no refunds aftere 14 days), I made her pack it up and we went back to the store where I freaked out to such an obscene state they almost called the police. But they relented and gave her an exchange for an iPad 2. Verizon employees are completely immoral. I told them they were insane, immoral, ignorant, stupid, and outright callous taking advantage of a little old lady for a measly commission. I was yelling at the top of my lungs so everyone in the store could hear me. They were convinced I was insane. Then
I walked out and waited in her car while they relented and did the exchange.

      1. Am I insane? maybe. Am I crazy? a definite here, lol. Am I stupid? no, Lulu, otherwise I’d own Microsoft or HP, or even Android merchandise. My HP has rested comfortable under my bed for years, with it’s broken keypad, iffy graphics processing, and slow Booting even after multiple wipes from Norton. I must say that it lasted almost 30 days before falling apart. My Compaq never got beyond initial booting, and after a few weeks of unsuccessful re-installs, drive switches, i just gave it away, and stuck with my Macs. BTW, Even my Mac Plus is still fully functional, as are my 400, 6166, my 233 iMac, and 2.0 intel iMac. My 1988 NEC portable works fine as well, ran OS/2 with Lotus. Only repairs on any of my Macs were replacing cd drive, or upgrading memory or processors. Apple did switch out a DVD drive on my 2.0 though. Free, 14 months after purchase, wasn’t really broken, just was intermittent on burns, maybe 90 percent success rate. Apple does create great things, and if the products I purchased from other companies had ever measured up to Apple’s products historically, I would give them Kudos as well.

        1. Yes, you are crazy and stupid. You don’t take care of your stuff.
I have Sony Vaio laptop, and I’m very happy with this amazing pc. I love Windows 7. 😉

  8. Yes when I bought my wife’s iPhone 4s. He started to demo the Samsung android phone which I had to remind him was not what I told him I came to buy. I had to go to the apple store to buy the phone I liked.

  9. bought the wife an iPhone this last month… went to Verizon store, as Apple was too far away… the reps talked up android, windows, but I just flat out said, we’ll take the iPhone please. we really got the sales pitch on adapters, cases, window covers, etc though!! we HAVE to have them! I showed them the window on my 16 month old iPhone, (pristine except for one VERY minute scratch in corner) and they hemmed and hawed over it with excuses. Next iPhone will be bought at an Apple store, or at least online with Verizon, where I don’t have to listen to the spiels on other OS’es greatness.

  10. If the story is true, there is nothing to prevent VZ to push shitty MSFT phones over iPhones to consumers. However, it will be interesting to see AAPL’s reaction.

  11. No Verizon person, but my recent associate at the AT&T Store said she HATES the Windows phone she’s forced to use while working.

The downside is that she uses Android otherwise.

  12. Maybe the salesperson was pushing Windows Phone cause its better. Maybe she has met a few of you and now hates everything Apple stands for. Maybe you are just mad that you are holding the 2000s version of the Apple II. All you fanboys dangling from Jobs’ decaying ball sac amuse me.

  13. Common fan boys!! “Pushing” is absurd! My local Verizon store spent have the Trophy (their only WP) on display! And they don’t know how to use it. Sounds like little man envy.
