HTC testing new Android models due to infringing Apple iOS patent

“HTC Corp has begun testing new phone models that work around technology cited in a patent lawsuit won by arch-rival Apple Inc, and HTC’s chief executive voiced optimism over the company’s ability to meet challenging market conditions,” Clare Jim reports for Reuters.

“Speaking to media at the company’s Taiwan headquarters on Wednesday alongside Google Inc’s senior vice president of mobile, Andy Rubin, CEO Peter Chou said that the company would be working with Google to protect itself from ‘unfair’ means to stop innovation,” Jim reports. “‘This industry should not allow one company use its powerful weapon to stop other innovation and take it all…this is not fair,’ Chou said, declining to elaborate on how the company would protect itself.”

MacDailyNews Note: “Unfair” is stealing another company’s innovations in order to line your own pockets, you greedy hypocrite.

Steve Jobs on Android: “It’s a stolen product.”

“The patent suit between HTC and Apple was widely seen as a proxy for a larger fight between Google’s Android operating system and Apple’s iOS. Android phones dominate Apple in the Asia-Pacific region,” Jim reports. “The result, in which HTC was found to have infringed one of four patents Apple had centered its case on, leaves the way open for both camps to continue their competition in the courts.”

MacDailyNews Note: Ever notice how the thieves’ only real recourse is to scream “innovation?” Microsoft did it for years trying to protect their upside-down and backwards Mac OS knockoff. Now Google and those stuck loading Android into their pretend iPhones are doing it.

Chou expressed optimism [about HTC’s future], ‘There are a lot of challenges, always…what I’m confident about is that HTC has good people and a strong team, talented. At the same time we have a great partner to do this together.’ A devout Christian, he added: ‘Let God decide what’s the best.'”

MacDailyNews Take: #7: Thou shalt not steal. Repent, sinner, or God has likely already decided HTC’s fate.
