Use three fingers and revolutionize using your Mac

“If your Mac has a multitouch trackpad, there’s a simple but amazing tweak you can make that could revolutionize the way you use your computer,” Keir Thomas writes for Cult of Mac.

“Open System Preferences (Apple menu->System Preferences), click the Trackpad icon, make sure the Point & Click tab is selected, then put a check next to Three Finger Drag,” Thomas writes. “Doing so activates the best-kept secret for Macs with a trackpad. Ignore the simple description: ‘Move with three fingers.’ That’s the least of the productivity benefits this tweak can bring.”

  1. arrrggg, it took me a two weeks to figure out what I was doing wrong with two finger swiping for page up and down. The dashboard kept popping up when I scrolled up or down. I tried disabling dashboard, too, and then thought it must be something wrong with my fingers. I finally figured out that I needed to keep my two fingers apart when scrolling up or down. Putting my fingers together and swiping up or down made the dashboard popup. Spreading my fingers apart, then swiping up or down gave me the page up or down without the dashboard.

    Okay, JJ, back to you!
