iPhone captures moment grandmother shot son-in-law over divorce custody battle

“A grandmother allegedly shot her estranged son-in-law over a bitter custody battle in an attack that was caught on the victim’s iPhone,” The Mirror reports.

“Salvatore Miglino, 39, anticipated a confrontation when he went to pick his three-year-old son up from his mother-in-law’s home and so decided to record the handover,” The Mirror reports. “Grandmother Cheryl Hepner, 66, allegedly pulled a gun on him outside her South Florida home, shooting him twice in the shoulder and rib cage with a .22 calibre Beretta handgun.”

  1. All divorce attorneys should advise their clients to video any pickup/drop off situation from now on. These are the most likely situations for some kind of dispute and violence, so using your phone to protect yourself is just smart.

Hope the guy was OK. Must have been a pretty ugly divorce for her to shoot him with the kid there (at least in the house). How in the world did she think she wouldn’t get caught? That was obviously premeditated.

      1. I’m sorry for your loss.

I have never lost a friend in this manner but did recently bury a good friend of mine on my birthday so things are a bit raw right now for me.

I hope you are doing well and you’ll be in my prayers brother. *tips the glass*

  2. Yet another reason why a measure of gun control is NOT a bad thing.

People should be REQUIRED to take a gun safety course and not be allowed to own a gun after a delay.

Yes, guns don’t kill people… people do. The trick is not indiscriminately giving guns to people.

Cars don’t kill people, drivers kill people… yet we require those who want to drive to not only sit a test, but in most states go through a provisional time where they are not even allowed to drive without a registered license holder. After that, in some places there are still restrictions (aka. a waiting time) before you’re allowed to drive.

    1. What are you talking about. this has nothing to do with gun control. For all you know she could have passed a gun safety course. This doesn’t help your point at all. Obviously you are just a control nut and no measure of sense is going to help.

I am not even going to debate the issue of gun control here, since this incident has not value other that it is a statistic.

      1. Exactly.

Has nothing to do with “gun control”
And you are correct, a gun is a tool nothing more.

I could kill anyone with my bow… Or my guns. No “training” or “control” will stop me IF I want to kill someone.

    2. So if she had run him over in the driveway with her car would you be calling for stricter “Car Control” measures?

Or what if she had stabbed him? Would you recon a measure of knife control is NOT a bad thing?

    3. WHAT?!? You think that if she took a gun safety course, this wouldn’t have happened?

“Gee, I want to shoot my son-in-law, but after taking a gun safety course, I realize that it just wouldn’t be safe.”

This has to be one of the stupidest posts I’ve seen in a while.

  3. Revised X-Mas song…

“Grandma got run over by a reindeer! While pulling out her .22 on Christmas Eve. You may say there’s no such thing as Santa, but as for the bullet holes in my chest, I believe!”

It would be sweet justice if she was found guilty of shooting and given 3 months and then found guilty of lying to 911 and lying on a police report about the incident and given 4 life terms! Bazinga!!!

I can only imagine life with his wife, if his wife had a smidgen of nastiness of the mother-in-law in her! Fry da Byatch!
