Ex-Apple exec: Apple and Samsung will reach compromise soon; Apple’s real target is Google

“A former Apple executive, who was regarded as the right-hand man of the late tech giant co-founder Steve Jobs, said Wednesday that Apple and Samsung will eventually end their legal dispute and reach a compromise,” Kim Yoo-chul reports for The Korea Times.

“‘The friction between Apple and Samsung is actually more of an extension of the conflict between Apple and Google, namely Android, and although Samsung’s Galaxy products did irritate Steve Jobs as I remember, I believe that Apple and Samsung will reach a compromise soon,’ said Jay Elliot in a news conference Wednesday,” Kim reports. “Elliot wrote the book, The Steve Jobs Way and worked as Apple’s senior vice president of operations.”

Kim reports, “Elliot called Jobs’ legal fight with Samsung a ‘matter of pride… Design was the issue that’s been causing the battle and Jobs was also upset after looking at the design of Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones,’ Elliot said.”

      1. Ditto, wouldn’t be caught dead with anything Shamsuck. Too bad too, at one time I really liked their products, but not at the expense of stealing intellectual property, ideas and patents from others. Monkey see, monkey do. Paraphrasng Steve Martin from the movie P,T,& A “Here’s a thought, try to invent something original! It makes it that much more interesting for the user!”

  1. Samsung needs to hire an industrial designer and give them the freedom to design a tablet of their own. Look at the Nook. It is nice looking and functional design that is not a straight up rip off of Apple products. Samsung does not have to copy the look and feel of the iPad/iPhone.

Google has a more difficult issue with Android. They stole bits and pieces of other peoples code and hacked it together with some of their own innovations, and tried to copy the look and feel of iOS. A re-write of the Android code to remove stolen pieces, and to avoid using the unlicensed IP of other companies, would take years.

  2. Back in 2002 I owned my first Samsung device, It was a Samsung (or should i say shamsuck, nice one peter!) flip phone and a month into owning it the screen would go completely white! And was unusable so I took it into the store they said its a software bug and they were sorry to inform me my contacts were all gone and they assured me it would not happen again, 2 months later this time same thing happened again!!!! I’ve been boycotting Samsung ever since, they couldnt even get they’re software right then on a little flip phone, and sure as hell haven’t made any software improvements that DON’T involve crashing, and I have not been impressed by they’re business tactics either, keep peddling your overpriced Asian knockoff garbage elsewhere, mabe fleamarket would be good place, my pocket knives from there break all the time from there as well.
