William Power of R.W. Baird in a note to clients this morning reported that Apple’s iPhone 4S was “sold out at the vast majority of stores that we checked with, with many stores notifying customers of device shortages in their automatic greetings.”
Tiernan Ray reports for Barron’s “Stores are taking pre-orders for the phone or creating reservation lists, he found. Power thinks Best Buy is a ‘litmus test’ for iPhone sales because it’s one of the last locations to ‘have its supply of iPhone devices normalize.'”

Uhm call me a lazy f***er but why would I want to walk into Best Buy to buy an iPhone 4S when I can pick up the phone and get one sent to me pronto?

“selling out?” Try not selling. I PRE-ordered mine on Sept 8 and STILL don’t have it. What’s the hold up?
When I worked for BB, we got maybe 1 case of phones at a time… And the reason people might buy iPhones at BB is the protection plan. If you crack it, they automatically send you another one within 2 days, it’s a little more than the Apple but covers a wider range of issues that could arise.
