      1. I’m very happy with ATT, and have had horrible experiences with Verizon in the past. Others would have different opinions. I’d say go with what carrier has the best coverage in your area as a primary factor, and then who has the best plans that fit your needs as a secondary factor.

      2. When I traveled the country, Verizon had coverage nearly everywhere I went. But with AT&T you can talk while accessing the Internet. That’s been surprisingly important. And with the 4S antenna system, AT&T might be as reliable as Verizon was (I don’t have my 4S yet).

  1. Quite a day, with this announcement, and iPhone newbie Sprint breaking its previous one-DAY sales record between 8:00am and Noon. Plus Verizon. And the other worldwide launches… Android, RIM, and Windows Phone do not even exist today.

    1. You know what’s even more satisfying than watching PALM, RIMM, NOKIA and MOTOROLA go bankrupt? Watching MSFT tap android OEM’s for royalties and then watching MSFT & NOKIA go belly up trying to compete with APPLE’s IPHONE 4S and IPAD 2.

    2. Paul, if your prognostications were always so good, you would have long ago retired on your investments to Tahiti or France and wouldn’t be writing stupid comments here for no $s….

If it is really who you claim to be. If not, you’re trolling.

        1. Nah!… Iphone is loved there… But most are going for Android. Some are believing the Google slaves are more “open” than “blind Apple fanboys”!
Stupid allegation in the name of some “independence”…

  2. I still don’t see how this can be: weren’t we assured by every tech blogger in existence that this was a huge disappointment, just like they all assured us that the iPad was a huge disappointment?

    What? Wait, never mind.

    1. I do not know about tech bloggers dissing the iPhone 4S unless they are blind trashcan fanboys.

But in reading the HYTimes and other papers they are all having a ball with the witty things Siri comes up with.

There are going to be web sites devoted to the latest quotes from Siri as she answers questions.

She is quite funny and damned smart when you try to mess with her.

My favorite is her reply when you tell her you killed some people and want to know where to hid the bodies?

Hr replies all make sense as if she were serious.

  3. I had to pick up my phone from UPS at 8.30 PM tonight. Apparently they stayed open to allow customers to pick up there new phones. There were about 30-40 waiting we I got there. Luckily my phone was already there and I only waited for 5 mins. Hope everyone got there’s.
Siri is having a problem with my accent (English) but she recognized “why are you such a bitch?” and responded that “You are entitled to your opinion”!!

  4. Siri is delightful, it has me and my lovely wife in stitches all the time even without all the knowledge she has in the US (we’re in the UK) but we know she is studying furiously and soon will be up to speed here also…

    We love her!

    =*^)

  5. Bono… activate first! then restore from your most recent back up of your existing phone.

My buddy somehow got his iphone to restore from backup before activation, and now the phone is totally screwed up. Has to take it into the genius bar today. We tried “erase all content and settings” and starting from scratch to no avail.
