Apple has released iPhoto 9.2 which supports compatibility with iCloud and iOS 5. Mac users are required to have iPhoto 9.2 installed before they can enable Photo Stream in their iCloud System Preferences.
This update also addresses minor stability, performance and compatibility issues, including:
• Left and right swipe gestures can now be used to navigate between photos in Magnify (1-up) view
• Previously imported photos are now displayed in a separate section of the Import window
• Book/calendar themes and card categories can now be selected using a pop-up menu in the carousel view
• Resolves an issue that could cause some pages of books to print incorrectly
• Rebuilding a library now correctly preserves saved slideshows and books
The update is recommended for all users of iPhoto ’11.
iPhoto 9.2 is available via Software update and also as a standalone installer.

I have iPhoto 9.2 on SL, will that work with Photo Stream? Or is it Lion only?

I ran into continuous crashes after updating my MBP last night, but my iMac worked fine.
The culprit: an incompatible 3ivx codec installed. If you have crashes and have 3ivx installed – update or delete codec and you’re golden.
