T-Mobile CMO: ‘We’re not going to get the iPhone 5 this year’

“A little bit of disappointing news this morning as we just received the above image which shows in no uncertain terms the words of T-Mobile Chief Marketing Officer Cole Brodman,” TmoNews reports.

“Speaking at a town hall meeting for T-Mobile employees Brodman seemed to confirm that T-Mobile will not carry the iPhone 5 this year,” TmoNews reports. “‘We are not going to get the iPhone 5 this year,’ [Brodman said].”

TmoNews reports, “We could read a lot into the ‘this year’ portion of the statement. Does that mean an iPhone 4/4S is coming to T-Mobile this year or is a deal in place for T-Mobile to launch an iPhone in 2012? There is a lot of ways to interpret his statement but one thing seems certain, no iPhone 5 for T-Mobile anytime before midnight on December 31st.”

  1. This is very, very bad.

Without the iPHone, it won’t matter if AT&T buys out T-Mobile, it will simply go bankrupt. Either way, the U.S. will have less competition in the cellular space.

  2. You’ve got to be kidding me! At this point, T-mobile is done as being the 4th largest cell provider in the US, everyone is going to migrate over to the other 3 at some point.

Sprint is going to be extremely attractive if they hold true to their unlimited data policy for the iPhone and their pricing isn’t that much more than T-mobile. I’ve been with Tmo now for 10+ years and it’s time to say goodbye as I can’t deal with the EDGE speeds anymore on my iPhone.
