Apple stock price up 15% since Steve Jobs resigned as Apple CEO

“Apple’s stock price has risen 15% since the departure of Steve Jobs last month, proving many analysts wrong who predicted the company to suffer under the leadership of Tim Cook,” Alistair Charlton reports for The International Business Times.

“Confidence in the new CEO was confirmed yesterday as the share price shot past $410 per share, to eventually reach $413.23, a record high for the technology firm,” Charlton reports. “Breaking the $400 per share barrier for the second time this year is impressive, but more so is the strong growth Apple has seen in a turbulent market, with broader markets suffering losses amid worries about a Greek debt default.”

Charlton reports, “With rumours of the iPhone 5 gathering pace ahead of its predicted October launch, along with Mobile Me replacement iCloud due soon, the stock price is set to not only hold firm at the $410 level, but also to see continued growth.”

  1. hmm… while it removes a shit ton of uncertainty from their management team, I think this take off is centered more around the fact that apple’s competition is folding and imploding – from the lawsuits targeting android to the fall of RIMM to the altogether withdrawal of HP. And no one cares what dell does. Samsung is getting owned by apple on the patent front and find they can’t even sell their product in large markets abroad.

Couple that with apple no doubt about to extend their immeasurable lead with the imminent release of a new generation of iPhones and there you go. Steve jobs leaving the company doesn’t infer anything IMO.

  2. Okay, I’m just stunned but the Apple share survey indicates that 73 people who frequent this site have more than 25,000 shares or over $10,000,000 in Apple stock. If these people are diversified, then these are the truly wealthy folks who slum around here on MDN!

Also, there are 141 folks here who have at least $1M in Apple stock! I’m impressed.

    1. One would surmise as long as these people hold tight for awhile the amount of millionaires will only increase. pretty crazy!

I’m happy to be one of em 🙂

btw- you ever read mark cuban’s thoughts on diversification?

  3. Most probably Apple’s shares would raise either way. And, if Jobs’ health would be recoverable and he would announce that he is returning to active CEO role, instead of resigning, the shares could be even higher than this today.

  4. Steve Jobs was ultimately successful as Apple’s iconic CEO in developing an inherent culture and assembling a core leadership that allows Apple to innovate, develop, and progress.
