“‘This is absolutely not under consideration,’ Iwata told the Japanese news outlet Nikkei following the company’s recent 3DS press conference. ‘If we did this, Nintendo would cease to be Nintendo,'” Haselton reports.

  1. The problem with nentindo isn’t there hardware, it’s the fact that they don’t value user generated content or 3rd party software
    at all
this makes there hardware rather frustrating and feel useless

    1. And what exactly is user generated content necessary at all for a game console. Not saying it isn’t nice, but it’s far from being their biggest problem.

And it’s not like they don’t value 3rd party software. It’s just that 3rd parties know that Nintendo hardware is always severely outdated and not fit for “real” games. So no one other than Nintendo themselves and the odd developer make any kind of decent game. The market is inundated with piss-poor games that milk the hardware’s current gimmick (Wii-mote, dual screens, 3D, now iPad-ish mirroring…)

Actually the iPad-ish mirroring from Wii U is a nice idea, but alone it won’t make them any better than the PS4 or the 720. Most of the benefit they can get with normal controls + touch screen is either cosmetic or, in the event of using only the touchscreen, getting the same types of games you can get on an iPad… and you won’t buy a console to play the same things you play on your tablet.

Sony and Microsoft, on the other hand, are lethargic and lazy as well, and lost two years developing the useless crap that was the Move and Kinect. Should Apple enter at all on the sector, even indirectly, they would crush all 3 companies.
