LG solves iPad 2 display issues, resumes shipments at normal levels, say sources

“LG Display (LGD) has seen its LCD panel shipments for Apple’s iPad 2 return to previous levels after solving quality issues, industry sources said,” Max Wang and Joy Wan report for DigiTimes.

“Its shipments of 9.7-inch iPad 2 panels went back up to four million units in August, and will stay at a similar level in September 2011, the sources added,” Wang and Wan report. “LGD’s shipments of iPad 2 panels declined siginificantly to 2.5-2.6 million unuits in July from the previous monthly volume of about four million units due to problems with the backlight units (BLUs), prompting Apple to source more from Samsung Electronics and Chimei Innnolux (CMI), the source said.”

Samsung does not have license for IPS technology (they came up with their own plagiarized versions of it, PLS, only this late spring; lawsuit from Hitachi Display is possible), so DigiTimes insistence that the company has anything to do with production of displays for iPads/iPhones is not correct.

      1. I had a 2006 iMac and it quit working after two years , nine months. Took it in and when I picked it up they said the problem was with the logic board and was replaces, they told me they also noticed spots on my screen and replaced that also, even though I had not complained about the screen! I had noticed them, but just figured that was normal on a three year old computer! I did have the three year extended warranty
