Apple today released a new beta firmware update for several AirPods models, marking the fifth version in the current testing cycle. The firmware, build 9A5347a, is available to both developers and public beta testers.

The update covers the AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, AirPods 4, and AirPods Max 2. It primarily adds support for new features coming in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS Golden Gate. These include a redesigned AirPods interface, a dedicated slider for Adaptive Audio mode, and custom EQ options. The firmware also enables compatibility with Apple’s updated Siri AI capabilities.

To install the beta firmware, connect your AirPods to an iPhone, iPad, or Mac running iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26, or later. In the AirPods settings menu, you’ll find an option to enable beta updates. Once toggled on, the firmware can download when the AirPods are connected to the Apple device and plugged into power. Installation is not instant; updates often take several hours to complete, as there is no dedicated “Software Update” button like on iPhones or Macs.

MacDailyNews Note: This beta continues Apple’s ongoing work to align AirPods more closely with the upcoming system software releases. As with any beta firmware, users should be aware that it may contain bugs or incomplete features and is intended for testing purposes.
