Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz axed, bids farewell via Apple iPad

MG Seigler reports for TechCrunch, “Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz was apparently fired over the phone. Harsh.”

This is the note Bartz just sent out to Yahoo employees:

To all,

I am very sad to tell you that I’ve just been fired over the phone by Yahoo’s Chairman of the Board. It has been my pleasure to work with all of you and I wish you only the best going forward.

  1. Golden parachutes, UGH!

Company I worked for has had 4 (5?) CEO’s in the last 7 years.

Company’s worth 12 million, yet each exiting Boss has left with between $4 and $6 Mil.

Oddly enough, they’ve all been somewhat “left of center”.

      1. They obviously meant the CEO’s were eccentric or incompetent. “Left of center” is just a saying, not a political reference. Still, good job calling someone mean names for no reason.

    1. If you go left far enough, you end up right. Honestly, why do you spout this type of suspect BS with a political slant? I have no doubt at all that many died-in-the-wool conservative CEOs have exited with plenty o’ cash. Most of the upper management of publicly owned companies seem to be having fun with shareholder assets.

      Start thinking for yourself.

    1. She sure does.

I like this one from the school of hard knocks –

“I have a belief that life isn’t about balance, because balance is perfection … Rather, it’s about catching the ball before it hits the floor.”

  2. name one good idea yahoo or product from yahoo.

get a website from yahoo with 30 email accounts for $10 a month or pay $20/month for email only with 10 accounts. yahoo is just in the way.

  3. When Carol was hired by Yahoo in early 2009 she was paid an annual base salary of $1 million. She was eligible for an annual 400% bonus and received 5,000,000 shares in addition to an equity grant of $18 million of stock (to compensate for the forfeiture of the value of equity grants and post-employment medical coverage from her previous employer).[17] In 2010 Bartz was named “most overpaid” CEO by proxy voting firm Glass-Lewis when she received $47.2 million in compensation.[18]
On September 6, 2011, Bartz was removed from her position at Yahoo! (via phone call), and CFO Tim Morse was named as Interim CEO of the company.

  4. She was the Pres, CEO, and Chairman of Autodesk before coming to Yahoo. So basically, she is the b-wench the kept autocad off the Mac for so long. Good riddance to her, and may she never work in the industry again.
