“‘New Girl’ won’t be so new by the time it premieres Sept. 20 on Fox,” Andrew Wallenstein reports for Variety.
“The bow of the Zooey Deschanel comedy has been available to view since late August in select hotel TV systems and screenings in Fox-affiliate cities,” Wallenstein reports. “The staggered marketing strategy calls for more sampling opportunities in the coming days via in-flight viewings, colleges and so-called tastemaker hotspots like Los Angeles’ Smog Shoppe.”
Wallenstein reports, “In the weeks leading up to launch, “Girl” will be available for free on digital platforms besides iTunes including Hulu, Fox.com, VOD and a Deschanel-backed blog called Hello Giggles.”

Wow fox is actually doing something right for once.
Wow…..that show looks like it is going to suck….
It often works very well when they do this, as long as the show is decent. Fox did the same thing for Glee, and that certainly became a popular show. But I’m sure there were other (forgettable) examples that we don’t remember anymore.
Huh.
If only I were interested in the show.
New Girl? … had her already
TV is dying
The previews for “New Girl” are among the worst I’ve seen. Zooey’s got fewer facial expressions than Karen Gillan, and absolutely no cast to save her.
I don’t have high hopes for New Girl for one simple reason: Other than Arrested Development, can anyone name a Fox sitcom that wasn’t about poor people that lasted longer than a single season?
Do you not consider “The Simpsons” a sitcom?
Um, the Simpsons aren’t poor, but I wouldn’t call them rich either.
Exactly. Same goes for most of the Fox cartoons, except maybe American Dad.
But when I think of long-lasting, live action Fox sitcoms, I think of shows like Married with Children, Malcolm in the Middle, and Raising Hope.
Anyone who likes Zooey Deschanel has a reason to like this show. However, if it weren’t for her, there is no reason to watch this show.
