“Apple’s magical device is at work in the Magic Kingdom,” Nicole Martinelli reports for Cult of Mac. “This video gives a look behind the scenes where engineers — or ‘imagineers’ as Disney calls them — are at work on a New Fantasyland using iPads.”
“Fantasyland, at the Magic Kingdom Theme Park in Florida, will double in size with new attractions, restaurants and other guest areas that will make up the expansion,” Martinelli reports.
“Apple’s portable tech helps avoid the age-old construction clash of how great ideas on the drawing board become headaches in the field,” Martinelli reports. “They’ve developed what sounds like a proprietary software suite of innovative visualization technology that includes 3D-modeling and is used to schedule the projects, too… ‘It really allows us to do what we do best as imagineers,’ says engineer Mark Kohl. ‘Focus on our show and create a world class attractions for our guests.'”

But iPad is for content consumption only — a glorified iPod touch etc.
Macho engineers schlep around rugged issue Panasonic Toughbook laptops for real work on the go.
and it doesn’t play Flash or have a keyboard so it isn’t very useful to business people.
The millions using it are all brainwashed.
Hopefully the sarcasm flag is working today.
Don’t forget SIM card slot(s), a few USB ports, Ethernet port, a Blue-ray DVD drive and more importantly—mouse support. Real life users (professionals or non) require mice to get real work done.
that has been what is so interesting about iPad. Apple put the product out there and said, “Take this and go figure out how it can be used.” not,” here’s what it you do with it. “. I think even Apple is surprised what iPad is doing.
Yeah but why didn’t they call them iPads instead they use “digital tablet”. Seems strange to me. Plus those innovative imagineers still use windows. Not so innovative.
Why is that schmuck in the video using a Dell computer running Windows as his desktop? Has his brain not expanded beyond the canyon that Windows has put him in?
Hahaha! I just used my iPad yesterday to show my electrician where the vertical chases are running in the SIP walls in my house addition, which I’m building thanks to my profits on my Apple shares!
I was hoping to see what apps they use to do fly-throughs of the model on an iPad, but I’m pretty sure that those apps don’t exist yet. The field is just looking at screenshots and PDFs. Jobs said that desktops are trucks, and laptops are cars… iPads are bikes.
No FLASH. No Sale! I still hear and see that constantly. Amazing brainwashed idiots! lol
Awesome! But why are they using Windows PCs?
As a longtime Machead (since 1984) who’s looking to integrate my iPad into more day-to-day operations, I’ve agree that a flash drive port would be the icing on the cake. It’s just too much of a hassle to quickly move large files in and out, though the camera kit may help.
That was an extremely well done PR video for Apple.
• Subject was about one of the world’s top known company
• Apple never mentioned, iPad never mentioned, yet the iPad was unmistakably the star.
• Disney looks smart and forward thinking; iPad is the hero.
• Unstated message: the magic behind Disney is the magic of the iPad.

Imagineering with Apple… Dreams can come true. Now where do I send my resume?
And don’t forget the stylus!
Billy Goaats from MicroShaft has for nine years been banging on about how a ‘real tablet’ has to run WinDOS and have a stylus!
