Apple releases iTunes 10.4; now 64-bit with OS X Lion’s new Full-Screen App capability

Apple has released iTunes 10.4 which is now designed for OS X Lion.

You can now use iTunes with OS X Lion’s new Full-Screen App capability, which allows you to use iTunes and other apps without distractions. Navigate between your full-screen apps with a simple gesture.

Note: iTunes is now a 64-bit Cocoa application on OS X Lion and includes a number of important stability and performance improvements. Some iTunes plug-ins may no longer be compatible with this version of iTunes. Please contact the plug-in developer for an updated plug-in compatible with iTunes 10.4.

iTunes 10.4 is available via Software Update.

  1. Given the size of most Mac screens these days (mine is 30″, my wife’s is 27″) is there that much demand for full screen apps? Safari running full screen with a narrow strip of web page down the middle looks silly

        1. like @spade and @GeeOne hinted towards the fact that the majority of computer users these days are laptop users which have small screens.
          Awe the days of the desktop are coming to an end for the average user. Don’t get me wrong im sure desktops will be around in offices for a long time still

    1. Am I the only one who doesn’t get all the hoopla around Full-screen applications?

      You’d think that if they were SO important to be full-screen they would’ve done it in OSX Ocelot. For goodness sakes, Windows has had full screen since forever ago.

  2. @Carlton…same here…Lion up and running, odd scrolling (just gotta get used to it)…side scrolling pages in Safari…strange but again…just an adjustment…but the non install of iTunes and others…not good
