“While most continue to have a laser beam focus on the iPhone 5 for the immediate term with Apple (AAPL), we think it has something much bigger in the works. Bigger? Yes, much bigger, and it’s in front of your face,” Follow My Alpha writes for Seeking Alpha.
“What is it? The iPad. We’re sure there will be plenty of comments saying we already know about the iPad, but the reality is few really understand what it entails for Apple,” Follow My Alpha writes. “Why do we think this? If the majority of people truly had such amazing insight into technological innovation and Apple, we would have a lot more US multi-millionaires solely from investing in Apple stock.”
Follow My Alpha writes, “In our view, Apple is about to transform again as a company, given that it’s now not only the leader in new markets that never existed before but is also creating them. The iPad, in our view, will be far bigger and more successful over the long term than everyone realizes except perhaps Steve Jobs himself. This is why we feel that Apple is still a Buy even as it pierces new highs in the market.”

How do they know what I think?
And how many other things are “bigger than I think”….?
You’re right, this scares the hell out of me.
They Googled it…
That article wasn’t really news though, just speculation..
I’m sure they’re right, but it’s hardly newsworthy material.
You hear that Paul Thorough-ROTT and John C. DaWhoreCrack!
Pro Apple “analysis” as it is, I feel the author here is guilty of talking in circles. Apple has something big, how big? Big, because Steve Jobs said so.
Wow.
When Steve Jobs or Apple innovates and develops something, it is because they choose to. When they manufacture the first million of them, it is because they choose to. When I buy 2 iPads and will be buying at least 2 more iPads this year for my family, it is because I “said so”.
People buying Apple products and services with their own money validates the direction and vision of the dreamers that think different at Apple. Apple innovates to where we are going not where we have already been!
I’m not arguing against the premise; my disappointment in the article is that it offers little meat if any.
Could use a better editor, too. If “new market that never existed before” isn’t redundant, nothing is.
true. It would be a better article if he would just flesh out his thinking.
Krquet, Tryll and nfgibson, you sound like women at a sewing circle discussing that new school ‘marm.’
Why don’t you try reading the entire article? At the very least you might enjoy reading the responses that follow it.
I agree, a meatier article would be more interesting. I would classify this sort of article as an “awakening”. They are looking at something that is out in the open and suddenly realizing that it could be much bigger than conventional wisdom had it pegged at. Possibly this will be the inspiration for deeper analysis.
Apple IS one infinite loop. It all begins and ends with Steve Jobs.
Financial writers, stock cheerleaders, are often overly optimistic. But on Monday, I added another 30 shares of Apple to my portfolio. Why? Because I believe as the writer does – that the iPad isn’t just another product. It is the leading edge of axtrend that will transform media and computing as we know it.
I think they’re on to something. And that something is transforming us – again.
Maybe it’s bigger than a typical analyst thinks, but it is NOT bigger than I think… 🙂 When it comes to iPad, I’m thinking BIG.
It’s bigger than a breadbox, we know that.
Hah!
How Big?
My prediction is that of all the products that Apple currently manufactures that the iPad in it’s current and future forms, will soon generate more income than any other current product line.
The full potential of the iPAD has barely been
realized … It will revolutionize planet earth !!!
You know what I like about this forum? A lot of folks argue that we’re all just a bunch of fanboys here. T’aint true. I’m most impressed with how fast people will cry foul if they see anyone, including Apple and Steve, stray too far from the plot.
Now the REAL question for the day is when APPL will break through the $400 ceiling? Up another $4 this morning. This could be a watershed week.
I think the iPad surprised everyone in how successful it has been. Revenue for the iPad will account for 25% of Apple’s total for this quarter. That is not too shabby considering it has been out for just over 1 year.
Impact on Netbook sales have been huge which is amazing considering a netbook is usually cheaper than an iPad.
Finally Wall Street is paying attention and the stock is beginning to respond to this success.
The stock always goes up before earnings are announced and it drops after the results are known, even if those results are very good.
The gaming market and the streaming media (via Apple TV) markets are the next big ones.
