Apple seeds devs with first Mac OS X 10.6.8 build

“Apple today seeded the first developer build of Mac OS X 10.6.8. The build, termed 10K521, comes nearly two months after the public launch of Mac OS X 10.6.7,” Eric Slivka reports for MacRumors.

“Mac OS X 10.6.8 may be the final maintenance update for Snow Leopard, depending on how long it takes to make it through the refinement process and Apple’s final timeframe for launching Lion,” Slivka reports.

      1. There’s a bunch if us with wifi problems. At first I thought it was iTunes having problems cause I just copied the data over from my MBP.. But you can’t stream anything.
A 5mb mp3 streaming from my AEBS… Stops plating every 10 seconds, plays for 5-15 seconds then stops for another 20 , rinse/repeat. Online… Even worse. Yet no other connected device has any problem, just the new iMac.
It’s just affecting those of us with the new 450mbits wifi ability, 2011 iMacs and MBP. I think only while connected at either 300 or 450. Not sure if only connected at 150.
Security on/off doesn’t matter, channel etc.
Multiple threads about it on the apple discussion boards, no solution yet 🙁

        1. Have you tried connecting to an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme? That might be a solution if you’re facing that much frustration. Quite honestly mine worked straight out of the box first time. Didn’t require any steps to set up other than entering my wireless password. Magic. It’s worked flawlessly without a hitch since.

  1. MacRumors claimed 10.6.6 would be the last Snow Leopard update. Just like I did then, I’m claiming there will be another update – this time 10.6.9. That will be the last Snow Leopard update.

  2. Snow Leopard is quite stable at this point. It will probably take four to six weeks to get to the final 10.6.8 release, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it WAS the last Snow Leopard version. Any additional minor fixes can get rolled into later “security” updates.

I’ll probably install Lion at the first opportunity, but Snow Leopard has become so solid and reliable for me… I kind of feel bad about leaving it behind.

  3. FCP and 10.6.7 don’t play nice…the update screwed up my fonts …they were missing in FCP I had to go back to 10.6.6 where the fonts were magically all better! Hope they fix it in 10.6.8…not the only one …see apple discussions
