“Remember those Apple ads that cast the Mac as a 20-something, self-satisfied hipster while the PC was portrayed by an older, square-looking guy in a brown suit?” Brandon Griggs asks for CNN. “Well, those characterizations, unfair as they may be, appear to have some truth to them.”
“An unscientific survey by Hunch, a site that makes recommendations based on detailed user preferences, found that Mac users tend to be younger, more liberal, more fashion-conscious and more likely to live in cities than people who prefer PCs,” Griggs reports. “Of the 388,000 Hunch users who responded to a question about computer loyalty, 52% identified themselves as PC people as opposed to 25% who said they are Mac devotees. Hunch then cross-referenced those responses with answers to other questions to draw cultural distinctions between the rival Mac and PC camps.”
“The results suggest Mac users can be seen, depending on your perspective, as bolder and more creative — or elitist and more pretentious,” Griggs reports. “The report found that 67% of Mac users have a college or advanced degree, as opposed to 54% of PC users.”
Griggs reports, “Mac users also are more likely to describe themselves as computer-savvy and ‘early adopters.'”

MacDailyNews Take: A quick remembrance of the umpteen IT doofuses we worked around/outsmarted in our past lives — as you can likely imagine, wherever there was only Windows PC dreck, we left a trail of Macs and new Mac users in our wakes — confirms at least some portion of these findings to be true.

IDK, ur post does not have me ROFL. mabe some al capones or aimies would make this LOL funnier.
nothing is true. you feel like doing more than on PC. that’s it. whatever I use PC or Mac, I feel the same way. I can still create the whole lot of things. I have PC, Mac. I don’t criticize what’s good or bad. each platform has advantage. use them smart way. unfortunately, most people, who own mac recently because of popularity, or trend, do nothing but simple task (internet, word processor, powerpoint). you can do this shit on PC with closing your eyes. people just don’t know how to use mac or pc useful way. if you do just simple task, you don’t need expensive mac at all. just look at new macbook pro 13inch. you pay more than $1300 or $1500. you get only intel HD 3000 integrated chip? are you kidding me? I am tired of all bullshit of Apple. even though I am still interested in ipad though.
You can also drive to the grocery store in a rusted-out old junker, but you’ll get there faster and much more comfortably in a BMW.
P.S. The bullshit is all in your mind.
That has got to be the dumbest and I mean the dumbest statement I’ve ever seen.
PCs are cheap for a reason. They break down often, are virus ridden, and the Microsoft OS is incomprehensible. Only if your time is worth nothing is it worth buying a PC. I’ve owned them all, HP, Compaq, Dell, Acer. They all suck donkey balls which is why I made a conscious decision to buy a Mac.
I’ve never been happier to spend $1,199 which is what it’ll cost to buy a base model 13″ MacBook Pro 2011 with the Sandy Bridge chipset. You might want to spend another $95 or so on an 8GB RAM upgrade but it runs Mac OS X and Windows 7 like a sweet machine.
Isn’t it all too typical of our current regressive age that we have to read this crap:
“Mac users can be seen, depending on your perspective, as bolder and more creative — or elitist and more pretentious…. 67% of Mac users have a college or advanced degree, as opposed to 54% of PC users.”
Sorry folks. There is nothing ‘elitist’ or ‘pretentious’ about having been able to obtain college or graduate education. In fact it is the Mac users who don’t have to play childish ‘I’m better than you’ games. What typically happens is PC user trolling of Mac users. IOW it vicious ‘I’m better than you’ BS coming out of the PC camp in an attempt to make Mac users miserable and to steer newbies away from the not-Microsoft platform. Mac users are then put in the position of having to point out that the trolls are liars. Rarely have I seen Mac trolls being ‘elitist’ or ‘pretentious’ at PC users. And when I have, typically there have been a flood of Mac users telling them to STFU and stop acting like PC users.
And no, it is not possible for PC users to see a reverse situation from their perspective.
A CNN report, oh yeah, that’s accurate. That is nothing more than what they want the world to be like.
Not true for me. Mac user since mid 80’s and though I am a strong environmentalist, that’s about where it ends with my match ups to the Liberal Mac user.
liberal (Green party), fashion conscious (new jeans, hip shirt, blk slip ons, no socks, slightly tan), 34 (its the new 24). have an ipod and macbook (older variety) and droid (!!! oh my!!!) phone. suppose i’ll get the iphone (on verizon) and ipad when all the bullocks dies down and they are on the 5th variety. i love mac, but not the “me first” price tag that is usually equated with it.
