Lenovo working on a 23-inch tablet; could debut this year

“Lenovo is working on a 23-inch tablet, with William Cai [Lenovo Senior Marketing Specialist] telling TechRadar that the company believes a home tablet could be arriving this year,” Patrick Goss reports for TechRadar. “‘We think that there is potential for a 23-inch tablet,’ said Cai. ‘We’d have to take care of battery life and we are working to get the weight down. It’s obviously not for full mobility use, but it could be moved from room to room in the house and used with a full keyboard, or as a television.Or you could lay it on a table top and use it for family games.”

MacDailyNews Take: Interesting idea (of course, price could be an issue). Now, if only Lenovo can sign a deal with Apple to license iOS. 😉

  1. I have a 21″ Wacom Cintiq Tablet Monitor.

Cost me about $2k when I bought it. Old tech now but still nifty. Pen input. Many illustrators use them

What is interesting about the Cintiq is that it has a complex stand that allows it to be swivelled in different angles and even laid almost flat.

Those curious can check out youtube videos of it in action (only the big Cintiqs have swivel stands I think).
    It weighs a ton.

  2. I’ve no doubt someone will find a use for this, but you have to wonder how Lenovo got there from here.

Was it a confluence of technological advancements? Were focus groups clamoring for a luggable tablet?

Was this fusion of laptop and all-in-one a natural progression from their carefully planned, long-range techno roadmap?

Was this luggable a concerted effort to build a 10-inch and the design-by-committee yielded something very different?

Or is Lenovo just staking a claim for the giant tablet market, hoping others will quickly populate the middle to bridge the gap between the 10-inch and their 23-inch, thereby giving credence to their product?

Does it only do Windows? Because something that big could house a Roomba, to do floors too.

  3. It’s a big ass tablet. Dell has the big ass smartphone, microsoft table – maybe Apple should invent a big ass Mac Pro with 64 cores and massively paralleled gpus. Make it the benchmark powerhouse against which all big assed hardware can be evaluated.

BAMP Big Ass Mac Pro. The Mac to rule them all.

  4. ok… Nobody is going to mention that Apple already has a 27″ iPad?

Lenovo, as always… a few years late to the party, and still comes up short.

(surprised nobody posted this already 😉 )
