iPhone app ‘Coverage’ compares Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile coverage maps

Coverage, an app for iPhone and iPad, provides an at-a-glance, wide area overview cellular coverage map by interactively overlaying maps from the four major US cellular providers.

Coverage focuses on helping users see where the coverage is, no matter what network (or combination of networks) they use.

• Know before you go: Avoid having to check each provider’s coverage map individually to know where you’re most likely able to keep connected in your travels
• No internet needed: All coverage maps are stored locally, so you can check where coverage is most likely even when you have none
• Urban and rural areas: Maps cover the entire continental USA, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands for AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile. (‘Coverage?’ is not intended to give within-city level details – it’s goal is to provide an overview while traveling)
• Know where to roam: view 4G, 3G, 2G and roaming areas as separate overlays, focus on finding the coverage type you need
• Bask in the joys of mobile bandwidth while avoiding the sorrows of roaming usage caps and absent signal
• 4G Coverage Map Overlays
• And more!

  1. I wouldn’t pay for that. I’m one of those who hasn’t had any major problems with AT&T. Even when wife an I went to NYC (notorious for bad coverage) we had no problems sending pics or talking on phone.
While we waited for an hour damn near for seats at the red lobster in Time Sqaure, I was on hold for at least 30 mins trying to varify our transportation to the airport for the next morning. No hiccups. Except for after Red Lobster. One to many drinks. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” /> I love NYC. I love my iPhone. I like AT&T. I’m board at work. Think I’ll play with my phone.

  2. Here in Utah we have pretty good AT&T coverage. No dropped calls, fast data speeds.

I do wish voice quality was better though.
If AT&T doesn’t do something to improve their voice quality, I might switch in 2 years (when Verizon has sped up their data).

  3. Vatdoro and MCM
Not all of Utah. My sister has a home in Sanpete county and a cabin at Duck Creek. No AT&T coverage at either. When there with my iPhone I have to go out to the street in front of the house just to get Edge. I think once you get south of Provo you are out of luck. St George being an exception. There are even a lot of gaps on I-15.

  4. RootMetrics is FREE and provides much more detailed coverage, around one block in resolution. It doesn’t give a direct on-map overlay of all carriers, but it’s easy to compare the different coverages for any area.
