“There’s a wealth of information in the 56-page ‘Brand Desire’report issued this week by M&C Saatchi, the advertising firm formed by the Saachi brothers in 1995 after they were booted out of Saatchi & Saatchi,” Philip Elmer-DeWitt reports for Fortune.
P.E.D. reports, “The headline for Apple (AAPL) investors is that Apple and its various brands (iPhone, iPad, etc.) came in No. 1 out of 100 in the survey of 17,000 people around the world. No huge surprise. What’s more surprising, at least to me, is where and among whom it wasn’t No. 1.”

Trader Joe’s my ass. Most Americans have never even heard of it. What a crock of shit.
Trader Joe’s? I second What a Waste.
Trader who???????? Is that a brokerage, lol??????
This article is ridiculous. The point that “Apple was the most desired brand only among the subgroups the report categorized as “cool hunters” and “badge wearers.” is an insult, and is one of the largest thorns in my side when discussing Apple with PC fans. It seems the only valid argument I get from them is that Mac people are just mindless trend followers and sheep who can’t think for themselves (while never once seeming to get the irony of a Windows user saying that). I mean, in the ned I really don’t give a shit, but in a random bar conversation with one of these bozos it has the ability to get me riled up. God forbid any of them see this article and throw it back in my face.
We don’t have a Trader Joe’s in my city. But my grown children (one is now in Germany and the other in Guam) both seek out Trader Joe’s whenever they visit a city that has one. They are apparently a very nice place.
Trader Joe’s?
Only because you haven’t experienced Wegmans.
They’ve been at the top of theFortune best places to work for years. A few years back they were #1, and since then they haven’t been lower than #5.
We’ve got a trader joe’s near us, it’s nice, but not as good as Henry’s Marketplace. Better prices, better food, less “full of themselves” people shopping there…
Trader Joe? What the he’ll is it, and why should I care?
What is it about the 21st century, where people can be proud and arrogant about not knowing stuff? Yeah, Trader Joes. If you don’t know what it is, look it up on that “InterWeb” thing you’ve heard of.
“Mac news from outside the reality distortion field”
wow thats ignorant for them to write for headlines
@Greg L
Only 4% of the world population are Americans. Why in the name of hell should the other 96% have ever heard of a US-only thing? We don’t have to be proud to have not heard of Trader Joes — all we need to be is non-American.
Misleading article. Survey of 17000 does not represent the world view!!!
