  1. ROFL!!!! every thing at&t is not!! ROFL HAHAHAHA
    like:
AT&T does not lie to your face (“yes the modem works with macintosh computers”(when we got the modem (it was a week late) I plugged it in and called version and after an hour of waiting and being told to click the “start menu” the told me it actually didn’t work), or “oh it only costs $50/month” (that one completely screwed us, were now locked in for $80/month… and that’s after spending a couple weeks on the phone with them)
AT&T does not hire illigle imagrents who can barrly speak english
At&T does not randomly through in those little extar goodies that end up costing hundreds of $ a month!!

every thing At&T is not ROFL!!! HAHAHA!

  2. MacRaven:

Your creative (and selective) copy-pasting works remarkably well, doesn’t it? Here are actual quotes from my text:

…”MAY HAVE nothing to do with Apple”…
…”LIKELY HALF OF your audience is not really interested”…

MDN’s replacement of home page with live coverage of a non-Apple event is without precedent. They never did anything like this before. They regularly replace home page with live event coverage, but up until now, it was ONLY for Apple’s OWN keynotes.

We never know what Apple is going to announce. But since the announcements are from Apple, there is of course a good reason to interrupt regular news and bring the event.

Verizon rumours were quite loud and consistent over the past two months, but they continued to be just that — rumours. And that is really beside the point.

MDN became such fans of this ‘iPhone on Verizon’ story that they felt compelled to drop everything else and bring us live coverage of an announcement of yet another carrier getting the iPhone, almost four years after the original announcement. I just felt it was a bit out of proportion with its significance.

  3. Ok you wining babies and Verizon fanboys, there you go you got your Verizon iPhone.
And you can use your mobile hotspot seamlessly, well… unless you want to make (or get) a call. But that’s not important. And how much is all this goodness going to cost you, well that isn’t important either, is it?

So OK, leave the good network to those of us with enough experience (and battle scars) to appreciate it

Now GIT! and don’t let the screen door hit you in the ass.

  4. Nice to see the iPhone finally non exclusive. (Sprint anyone?)

Like to see that it is CDMA ONLY which finally dispells the speculation that Apple would NEVER go with an outdated tech.
(Always nice to be proved right.)

Like they said “People want the iPhone now.”

    Mobile hot spot very intriguing.

This event SO deserves MDN coverage as this has been one of the biggest stories since the release of the iPhone.

Thank God the rumors can now end … lol.

  5. @PreDrag. Let the Americans have their little fun.

As for concurrent data… it’s not a big deal at all. 90% of people won’t even notice.

About the “having two antennas (CDMA/LTE) would mean the price would be higher” part… that’s total BS on Apple’s part. It would increase their COST.

They could choose to charge the same amount and reduce their REALLY LARGE margins down to QUITE LARGE.

  6. I will wait to switch until I find out how long before the LTE iPhone is available. Wonder if we will see the LTE iPhone 5 in June? I can limp along on AT&T for a few more months if the LTE is coming. I’d hate to get locked into a contract with the CDMA and have to pay a fortune to upgrade to the LTE.

  7. Verizon website for iPhone is down. too much traffic crashed it. Comes up with page stating: We’re very sorry, but the page could not be loaded properly….

Bad omen for iPhones on Verizon network

They could figure it out on their company iPhones, but it would require them to hang up, check the web to see it isn’t working, then re-call back to the office to let them know the web is down.

  8. @tt I’m with you. I’m watching my shares too. Go AAPL! Nice to own the stock of a company that makes great products. Great products that I have used for 25 years. It’s so nice to use their products and make money too. America is great!

  9. I agree with Predrag about this.

This is a remarkable non-event… at least in Mac centric sites. I have yet to see any significant coverage at other Mac sites I visit regularly.

    Maybe later in the day.

Even Apple must not have considered it that big a deal. My home page is apple.com and when I started up my iMac (about 9:00 Mountain Time) there was nothing about it. I just checked again and something is there now.

P.S. I’m a 15+ year Verizon customer and, to be honest, could care less about a Verizon iPhone. Seems like a hobbled device.

  10. Oh yeah, talk and data. Not a hallmark of the iPhone. Product of GSM network. Again another issue that Apple is not concerned with and should not be. People want to make it an issue but it isn’t. If you want talk and data, stay with AT&T if not then Verizon is now an option. Personally, I cannot even think of any time that I wished I had that feature. I’m sure I’d like it, but it is in no way anywhere close to being a deal breaker. Who talks on their phones anymore anyways … lol.

  11. @spyker… either you’re an idiot or you don’t use a smartphone the way it’s been intended to be used. Of course it’s a product of GSM and not the iPhone, but nonetheless it is a huge negative for any smartphone not just the iPhone. Something that Apple must not care enough about to be sure that it’s customers can use their product properly.

  12. @steve32465 This is what cracks me up. How can you say anything about Apple not caring enough to make sure that it’s customers can use their product properly. Who are you to say that is the proper way to use it? A smart phone does so many things how can one person ever say what is the proper way to use it. 100 million+ subscribers cannot use their phones in this manor, so are they ALL using their phones improperly?
When the feature is a product of the network and not the phone how can ANYONE speak for Apple as this being an intended use. AT&T/Cingular touted this feature even before the iPhone was released. I guess there must be alot of “idiots” out there.

Like I said before, and others have echoed this, if you need talk and web then you stay with AT&T if not Verizon is an option. I think there are a couple of Verizon current customers that may like the fact that the iPhone is now available for Verizon and aren’t really caring much that it doesn’t talk and web. LTE will be here soon enough for that.

And this again makes me laugh for all the analysts who think AT&T is going to experience some massive exodus now that Verizon has the iPhone. They thought the same thing when number portability was introduced, and it didn’t happen. AT&T will see some losses but not a lot. Not by a long shot.

I must be an idiot since everything I’ve said about a Verizon iPhone so far has come to pass.

  13. “Oh yeah, talk and data. Not a hallmark of the iPhone. Product of GSM network. Again another issue that Apple is not concerned with and should not be.”

For something that Apple is not concerned with, I’m pretty certain that Apple emphasized just that aspect of the iPhone in the very first iPhone commercial, and some subsequent ones as well.

FWIW, I will say that this aspect of Verizon’s network is something that Apple recognizes as an unfortunate but unavoidable technical limitation and is willing to live with it for the time being.
