Whenever I read about another mass shooting in the US, I’m always intrigued by Americans’ response. “Why did he do it?” Was he nuts? Was it political? etc.
To me, that’s largely dodging the real question, which is, “How was he able to kill so many, so easily?”. The answer is simple. Because he had easy (and in this case, legal) access to a hand gun, a lethal weapon that has only one purpose — to kill people.
Until America acknowledges the presence of this elephant in the room, these shootings will go on and on.

What I hope for is an appropriate response from the people we elected. This isn’t a reason to draw up *more* legislation that stomps all over the Constitution.

But what has happened is that this political season has become charged with violence, and it has come primarily from the Tea Party crowd, from Palin and Angle to all those gun nuts who open-carry at rallies. To say that it has nothing to do with them is just myopic denial.

California is one state that has recognized that, (at least) for some people— it is a medicine —
Now, I realize this may be a shock to a lot of people — but, I happen to know a few people, who cannot take the drugs which are pushed by doctors who probably get a kick-back from the various drug companies– and pot is the only thing that helps them ..
