“Creative entered into the tablet arena today with a pair of Android 2.1 tablets,” Electronista reports.
“The ZiiO 7 and 10 both make audio their strong points and combine Creative’s usual X-Fi audio processing with the use of apt-X’s new audio codec,” Electronista reports. “The format allows high-quality audio over Bluetooth with reduced lag, making them better fits for wireless headphones and speakers than the usual compressed sound.”
Electronista reports, “The two are defined by their screens, which use a high-color but 800×480 seven-inch screen on the ZiiO 7 but a low-color, 1024×600 display on the 10-inch ZiiO. Both use a resistive touchscreen instead of capacitive…”
MacDailyNews Take: Bzzzt! Wrong answer. Anybody who wastes their money on either one of these resistive-screened pieces of crap deserves the massive frustration of trying to use them.

@Jfd
Oh really? Everything I’ve ever read about resistive touchscreens vs capacitive indicates that resistive is vastly inferior.
We’ll see, won’t we?
Aahhhh ha! ha! ha! ha! haaaaaaaaa!!!!!!
Those people at creative have turned into comedians! What problems do this tabs address? Do I want a tab in a bag pumping sound to me via bluetooth?
How many iPod, iTouch, iPhone, iPad owning individuals will pony up for one of these bricks?
Hideous! It looks like the 10-inch has buttons along the bottom so it can only be used landscape. And they include a stylus!!! Ha ha ha ha!
@Jfd
Tee-totally misread your post. If I could, I’d erase mine.
*snickers* Resistive touch screens. Wow. I’m sure that these tablets will totally have Apple shaking in their boots. XP
What the hell does “low color” mean? 256 colors? washed out?
@ scott, colors that can only be displayed at the bottom quarter of the screen. Top three quarters displays in B&W.
Otherwise other meaning of low color is colors at the lower end of the spectrum, ie will only display Red and infra red. No wonder I LOL!
Why didn’t they just name it Zero.
It will be interesting to see the battery life and weight specs on the tablets that are rolling out. I suspect the iPad will have an advantage there. The other advantage of the iPad is that it runs an OS that is intended and fully ready to run on a tablet. My understanding is that Google said the latest version of Android (froyo) was not optimized for tablets.
@ scott
My question too. ” high-color but 800×480 seven-inch screen on the ZiiO 7 but a low-color, 1024×600?
What the crap?
And the price? “Creative’s tablets are getting a worldwide launch and should be available at the very end of the year. US pricing isn’t yet listed, but 8GB versions of the Ziio slates will cost the equivalent of $279 and $333 for the seven- and 10-inch models in Singapore. The company also plans 16GB versions but is limiting those to its online store for roughly $302 and $357.
Yikes!
Ah Creative’s Wong Hoo Sim is at it again. He was hilariously famous for announcing his mp3 players were destroying the iPod. Turns out they were shipping their crappy little units to warehouses and calling them “sales.” His press releases had a surreal Baghdad Bob quality. A very profitable short for me in early 2000. He did manage to get paid off for an obscure patent. With the past as a guide, expect a lot of noise and some very inferior products which will sell only to the hate-Apple crowd. Might not want to short it this time since the company’s already in the pink sheets, although if they belly up, you keep all the short proceeds no matter what you price you got.
Apple – just sue them all.
Ever notice how closely these two words sound? Their definitions aren’t that far off, either.
Stylus: Noun. 2. a penlike device used to input handwritten text or drawings directly into a computer or for input on a touch-sensitive monitor.
Styleless: Adj. 1. lacking in style or elegance.
At least they figured out how to make a white one…
