Google Earth and Apple iPhone trouble Israeli security chief

“Civilian Internet applications now offer militant groups access to intelligence that rivals what government spies can get, Israel’s domestic security chief said on Monday,” Dan Williams reports for Reuters.

“Shin Bet director Yuval Diskin, in a rare public address, identified cyber technologies as an ascendant international security threat,” Williams reports. “‘Intelligence once enjoyed only by countries and world powers can now be obtained through Internet systems like Google Earth, Internet cameras that are deployed all over the world and linked to the Web, or applications for IPhone devices that allow for quality intelligence to be received in real-time,’ he told a homeland security conference in Tel Aviv.”

  1. Y’all see, it is complicated!

Israel is now a large country with 6 million Jews. It’s not going anywhere. Both sides should recognize reality, agree on borders and for the sake of their children end the conflict. Neither side can “win.”

  3. The real problem is that the US and most of our population have zero understanding of world history, international relations, economics, cultures, religions, and politics. America was dragged kicking and screaming onto the world stage in the 20th century, and since arriving has yet to learn how the playground works.

Israel absolutely has a right to exist.

That being said, there are extremists among Israeli’s just as there are among Americans, Saudi’s, Indians, and Brazilians. Anytime you make a sweeping claim about blank group being as X or Y, remember that the mirror works both ways. We cannot solve the world’s problems with ignorance and hatred.

I really would like for MDN not to be a political forum…

you argue with some logic, but it’s flawed, sorry.

    1. right to land.
you argue that people who take over land from others have the right to do so because they are more organized, more intelligent. wow. that is arrogance. that is what always justified colonization! so, no, israelis have no right based on that – you just countered your own point. it is so hedonistic and at least as arrogant & nihilistic as hitler’s whom you cry to the world abused you, but look at zionists – they are no better, they did not improve the world one bit since wwii. they’re extremists just the same.

    2. satisfaction
how is that an excuse to have the right to the land.
just because you took it away from them and give them options?
the israelis, if you see the map of what they were give by the u.n. and declaration, looks completely different nowadays!! what hypocrisy. it used to be mostly palestinian at the creation date of israel in 1948. now you can count the tiny spots of palestinian land. which they do not own. which are more like concentration camps jews complain about. plus surrounded by walls worse than the berlin wall. come on.

    3. suicide.
current situation is not excuse for suicide? not morally, you’re correct. but what moral right does israel have to have anihilated palestinian villages, towns, bulldozing mothers & kids, homes, even foreign journalists, screaming at the world that it IS israeli land because they owned it 5000 years ago? any people pursecuted as palestinians were and are still by the mass media that belongs to jews and never reports complete truth to the world, would resort to some form of terrosism. after all, israel was given land legally but they took so much advantage of it milirarily that they anihilated the palestinian race nearly – though the world defends them, not the palestinians. in that sense the palestinians have it worse than the jews of wwii, since no one defends “dirty or uncivilized arabs.”

    3. anti-semitism.
you said it! if israel controlled the media there would be much less anti-israel feelings! of course. but is that the point of journalism?! it’s objectivity! plus, why do you think israel still exists? only because the media is controlled by them! otherwise palestine would exist, alongside or not, of israel.

    4. usa spies on israel.
yes they do, they do on many countries. but you miss the point. israel listens in on calls the us president or nsa makes! that is illegal. it’s even insulting. the usa gives israel billions of $ per anum as does germany. yet israel turns it against them by spying, lying, convoluting it all. israel just got a deal in june 2010 to buy the latest military F14/16s from usa but at half-price!! u.s tax payers pay all this to israel. saudis bought the same planes in june but had to pay more than double the price + get diluted versions. and you talk of israel having the right to screw the u.s. citizens? if it were not for u.s. israel would have no ally to support it. not one country would sacrifice for it – hence israel is alone as everything it stands for is disgusting to the world. the e.u. only supports it as they caused it into existence & through guilt.

    5. satellite cams & internet are the most democratizing technologies! before that humans have to go back 500 years to the printing press! for those who want to learn the truth, viewing what’s going on in israel, since the media lies, is essential for human existence! that is the point. not necessarily to engage in saving people. but at least the truth is always available.

    6. weakness:
what is “weak” in arguing for truth?! london and monte carlo are fully controlled by cams, crime is lower than most cities. it’s not ideal for privacy and it is big brother reality, but google earth/maps is different, it’s for the rest of us, not just governments.

    7. chosen:
israel is full of it. full of crime. atrocities. hypocracies to nazis. no better. its entire concept is totally hedonistic, jingoist, arrogant, ego-maniacal…it only exists through keeping the rest of the world guilty and through belief in being the Chosen People on Chosen Land. No God is so unjust or biased or stupid.

    8. right:
    a) and if israel has the right, is it not logical that the usa belongs to american indians, not whites or jews in ny and senate (as the u.s. government is completely controlled by the jewish lobbies unlike any other country represented)?! should the entire latin continent then not return to the indians too?!
    b) israel you say existed 5000 years ago. but it was never organized or bordered as it is now. it was never a set country. it was a geographical area in the middle east where all people, jews, muslims and some christians lived together in peace. nothing more. israel then did not exist as you say.

    9. reversal:
imagine if another people showed up and took over israel because beyond the jews’ 5000 years, let’s say 7,000 years ago they owned the land – would you sit and accept losing israel to them or be ruled over?! that is a fair question!

    10. persecution.
why does the world only hear of jewish suffering. almost every country and people suffered of colonization, anihilation. the entire world suffered throughout history. yet only books and movies on jewish suffering are made – proof that you own the media, unlike your argument that if israel owned it, they would…

who cares if 1 or 2 books or films are created on non-jewish suffering, when 99% are on jews. even spielberg, in schindler’s list, only commemorated the jews – sure it was a film on that group – but the point of a film or story and remembering the suffering is a humane problem, not one particular to jews – that is the untold arrogance – that is why the entire world, not nazis, always felt uncomfortable with jews through human history, as the arrogance is incessantly ugly…

don’t blame me. i’m just showing objectivity.

  9. no one is objective here. All people are biased to some degree.

If there was a simple solution, it would have been implemented by now. (That goes for any prolonged issue eg healthcare reform, African tribal warfare, etc)
