Apple Online Store“After acquiring Quattro Wireless and converting its conventional mobile ad banner network into the immersive, app-embedded iAd experience, Apple appears set to expand its creative staff in new job postings,” Daniel Eran Dilger reports for AppleInsider.

“The move positions Apple as not just a broker of mobile advertising, but also as a creative ad agency itself,” Dilger reports. “The company’s job postings, for craft and conceptual Art Directors, will join its ‘iAd Creative & Strategy team’ based in New York City.”

Dilger reports, “Apple also has open job positions for iAd traffic managers “responsible for configuring, monitoring, analyzing and optimizing advertiser and publisher activity on the iAd network” in both Los Angeles and New York; a corporate counsel position “focused on providing legal support for all marketing, advertising, and privacy issues,” an iAd project manager, a network analyst to “publish regular inventory reports to advertising and publishing teams” and a global iAd sales finance position “responsible for driving financial performance in Apple’s dynamic iAd business” (all located in Santa Clara); and an European account manager position based in London.”

  1. Baffling to me, as I look around my house and note I’ve not bought a single item based on any form of advertising. Not my phones, furniture, TV’s, ovens, beds, computers… nothing. Guess advertising works on some people, though, or no one would do it.

  2. Next step… Sack they’re international advertising and marketing agency and do all the marketing themselves.

It won’t take long for Apppe to realise that if they setup their own creative agency they can reduce marketing fees by a massive amount.

Apple also has the Hughes cash reserves to pay massive salaries to attract and empires the best creative people in the industry directly.

Been there, seen it happen, bought the t-shirt and lost creative agency business because of it.

  3. And… Setting up twit own agency means they have full creative control over everything they do.

Porsche has their own awarding winning design teams, so does Phillips, Nokia, Mercedes and many others.

Steve Jobs will love this idea – go for it Steve!

  4. Bet Apple will setup a creative school which is what Phillips did to nurture new creative talent.

Philips school in Eindoven, is one amazing creative environment.

I was Creative Director at Philips based in Paris and visiting the school was very inspiring. They had sensory rooms which encourage and train certain creative thought processes

  5. @Sixvodkas:

If nobody advertised, people would still buy most of the things they buy today. They would simply cease making buying decisions based on the misleading claims of advertising.
