  1. I’m glad it will be avaiable to under Windows as well. Not only might it show off Apple’s superior engineering and vision to Windows users, but it also means I can keep using it on those rare and frustrating occasions when I have to boot up under Windows through BootCamp to use some piece of Windows-only crapware. As it is now, I can’t seem to get my MagicMouse working under Windows…

  2. Only supports inertial scrolling on MacBooks and MacBook Pro. That’s silly. Should work in software on Mac Pro and iMac as well.

I predict that it will, in a future Mac OS X update, but it didn’t work yet because the OS teams that implement inertial scrolling weren’t told about the device. Stupid internal  secrecy.

  3. … It’s something built “for a Mac”, shows the sweetness of the Mac, doesn’t require lots of “support code” for various systems not actually involved. So … the “Magic Trackpad” is the dongle for the software infiltrating the enemy systems … and which of those will get one first? Bet it will be a golfer (“C-class” exec) rather than a bowler (grunt in the trenches).
    Nice bit of <strike>plotting</strike> politics, Mr Jobs! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  4. Sorry, I confirmed that it only works on Macs, and on Windows only if that is running on Macs with Bootcamp. Not for PCs running Windows. I would have loved to replace my PC mouse at work with a Magic Trackpad, but such is not to be. 🙁

    I could use it at home! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

  5. I think the Windows file size is much smaller because Apple is not providing the same amount of functionality for the device under Windows. I think that the primary reason for any Windows functionality is to give Boot Camp users some functionality when they regrettably have to boot into Windows. The size of the Mac file is due to much more functionality for Mac OS. Anyhow that’s my belief for what it’s worth.

Maybe SJ wants you to buy a bigger HDD? Or even a new, snappier computer? ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />
