Jérôme Gravel-Niquet’s free “Ostrich” extension for Safari 5 makes Twitter available from every website as you browse.
Ostrich will let you tweet, retweet, share links, get notified of new tweets, and more.
Features:
• Tweet This Page: Whenever you’re tweeting, there’s a button to link to the page you’re viewing. URLs are shrunk with bit.ly for minimal length.
• Unread Tweets: Ostrich keeps track of the tweets you haven’t yet seen. Mentions are also tracked so that you never miss a conversation
• Reply, Retweet & ★: The basic actions on a tweet are all available to Ostrich users.
• Mentions & Favorites: In addition to being notified of new tweets and mentions, they are conveniently added in their respective tabs.

Does an Ostrich tweet?
Someone I know who installed said you cannot tweet from it and the reply button is broken. Can anyone confirm this? If true, it’s a deal breaker.
I’ll wait for 2.0
They really stuck their neck out with this extension!
Very buggy, doesn’t work half the time, they got the right idea.. I get 502 error a bunch.. 🙁
I thought bit.ly was folding their tent?
Does Ostrich actually speed up Safari with Click to Flash installed? I have been using Chrome of late because Safari is a cludgy mess.
