“All About Microsoft” blogger Mary Jo Foley reports for ZDNet,” I bought an iPad. Big deal, you say… So did 3.3 million other people so far this year.”
“Well, for me it is a big deal,” Foley reports. “I’m a PC. I am not an early adopter or someone who rushes out to buy the latest/greatest gadget.”
MacDailyNews Take: Luddite soccer mom. Oops, sorry, she’s praising Apple for a change (funny, once she buys an Apple product and uses it, even she gets it, too).
Foley continues, “This is the first Apple product I’ve ever owned. I never saw the need for an iPod (I bought a Sony Walkman MP3 player, and later a Zune HD). I never lusted after an iPhone (especially because I use my phone to make phone calls). And I never wanted or needed an iMac or a MacBook, as I had so many PCs from which to choose.”
MacDailyNews Take: Listen any time is too early for this. We’re going to vomit if we read further. Read the full article if you want.
Full article here.
MacDailyNews Take: People who claim to “choose” Microsoft products, but who’ve never used an Apple product, have absolutely no credibility. Until now, Foley’s lived a life denying herself the best because it had an Apple logo on it and/or because she’s cheap or at least unable to calculate simple things like Total Cost of Ownership. For years, she’s been just plain ignorant. She gets no praise from us for finally waking up and doing what she should have been doing before attempting to write anything that even remotely mentionied Apple for all of these years.
We purposely torture ourselves with the latest Windows OS, so that we can confidently describe it as the crap that it is. We’ve actually tried to use Microsoft Zunes and more than one Windows phone. Yawn and yuck, respectively. For years, Foley has maligning Apple products as “expensive” and much worse without ever even trying them. She’s been describing Apple product users as snobs and much worse, without ever trying the products so she could understand why discerning people would choose a MacBook Pro over whatever POS Dell that Costco has in the bargain bin today. She just doesn’t get it and it’s totally her own fault.
In the full article today, she admits, “If I had felt there was a compelling Windows slate that would ship this year, I’d have refrained happily from buying an iPad.” So, whatever she writes today is notable only for her finally using an Apple product, not for her opinion, pro or con, because it’s utterly uninformed and therefore biased and of no use to anyone.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “GetMeOnTop!” for the heads up.]
The Microsoft Myth of Choice™ – Buy any hardware you want… just be shackled to our insecure sub par knock-off operating system.
Hell freezes over again.
I never lusted after an iPhone (especially because I use my phone to make phone calls)
Har Har… Mary Jo makes a funny.
My god, I just read her blog post.
STFU you stupid __tch!
Good take MDN. She wrote and bashed Apple for many years. Now she admits that she hasn’t even tried using them. What a stupid moron for writing about Apple and how their products impact productivity. How can you write about something that you don’t even have first hand use? Hilariously stupid!!!!
No Mary, it’s not a big deal. Nobody cares about you any more.
Why do you say soccer mom? Nobody plays soccer in the US?
Why don’t you say American Football Mom??
One Guy From Finland,
Stick to Finland, you know nothing about the U.S.
“Association football, or soccer, has long been a mainstream sport in the United States. It is the most popular recreational sport for both boys and girls and has been so for more than 30 years.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soccer_in_the_United_States
What’s funny is all the comments. Nobody sees the idiocy of being a Windows advocate for all these years yet refusing to touch an Apple device. She’s not very credible, and certainly not someone to take seriously.
Yet another idiot. There’s no shortage.
Let me translate this for you all…
“I’ve been whoring for Microsoft for so many years that my name is strongly associated with loving MS and discounting Apple, but as Apple moves into the number one position in technology and MS continues to take more of a back seat, I’d like to continue working. So I’ve chosen the iPad as the most graceful attempt at bridging the gap of ignorance I’ve perpetuated for decades. Now that I have done so, I can start writing about the company that will actually matter for the next couple of decades.”
Comments on her blog I mean.
I think it’s the dawn for Marry Jo to enlightenment. Which is good, because it’s going to be harder to find a decent PC this decade. iPad is a good start, Mom.
But Zune Tang still listens to his Europa and Jefferson Airplane on his Dell Ditty…….all encrypted with the PlaysForSure encryption…..
He vomits when he come within 20 feet of an Apple Product…..
“Until now, Foley’s lived a life denying herself the best because it had an Apple logo on it and/or because she’s cheap or at least unable to calculate simple things like Total Cost of Ownership.”
I think she lived the life of a Woman trapped in the body of a Man, but don’t let that get in the way of a good rant.
You go girl,
“Association football, or soccer, has long been a mainstream sport in the United States. It is the most popular recreational sport for both boys and girls and has been so for more than 30 years.”
Really? And you still haven’t learned to call it what it is? ie Football
Wow o_o
Mary buys an iPad- blogs about it, still takes shots at Apple and then wants “her” Microsoft shit to be ported to the iPad. It’s like going on a vacation to an exotic place, staying in a first class hotel and then eating at MacDonalds.
These PC people can’t just admit they go it wrong from the beginning. I myself WAS a PC, I fully switched when Jaguar came out- I admit I was wrong and I’m not going back.
She’s an idiot. Her readers are idiots too, given some of the comments. I mean really, her column is useless – why read it?
Chrissy’s translation just about covers it.
@ChrissyOne
Well take! You’ve nailed it 😀
Bravo, Chrissy!
I was thinking along the same lines as Chrissy, but not with so many of them big words.
@deepdish:
I’m sorry you couldn’t have meant Witch! that would imply magic and there is definitely no magic at Microsoft
Mary Jo doesn’t have permission to think for herself. I’m wondering what’s behind this.

Stupidest thing I ever read, ever!
HAHAHA!!
@One Guy From Finland,
Yep, soccer is very popular for both boys and girls in the US. More popular than other sports here that can be more dangerous or are less team oriented. You can see toddlers out on the field here. And it’s a huge family thing…mom drives a mini-van full of kids and either hangs out with other moms, or goes shopping, or swigs some vodka and hits on younger guys at the mall.
Soccer isn’t catching on beyond that because there really isn’t much room for it as a pro sport with all the other pro sports we have. If we were to do well in the World Cup, it might make a difference, but for now those who are into soccer and care about the World Cup are a totally different demographic from those who are into pro basketball, baseball, football, hockey, etc…
As far as the soccer versus football…
That’s not so simple. Football wasn’t coined as a term because of the use of the foot and the ball, but rather it was a game with a ball played “on foot” as opposed to on a horse. The original basis for both football and soccer was the same game. However, the sport evolved differently in the US and England. In the US as the sport evolved it was named football…this came first. In England, they copied the US when they formed the Association of Football.
In other words, the US used the term football first, and used it to describe a sport that evolved into what we know today, while England copied the name of the sport, but applied it to the set of rules that (in the US) we know as soccer.
The etymology of soccer starts with “association” -> socca -> soccer.
In any case, the US isn’t likely to change the name of *two* sports…and even if we did, it may result in the same issue happening all over again. Suppose we change soccer to football…we’d need to prefix that with something to know it was new football (soccer), so we’d do something like call it World Cup Football…but eventually that may end up being shortened to “worldcup” or “cupball” or whatever.
Typical MS whore (and not because you’re female, Mary) – hasn’t used Apple products but trashes them anyway and drools over MS products, whereas 99% of Mac users have had way more experience with Windohs than they wanted to have.
I welcome all from the Dark Side Mary Jo Foley. So, now that you stuck your head out into the day light, will you run back into your cave or see why Apple products and services are embraced by users that will not go into the dark again of their own will?
HAVE YOU REALLY SEEN THE LIGHT OR HAVE YOU ALREADY PULL BACK INTO THE CAVE?
@ChrissyOne
Nailed it.
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”cool grin” style=”border:0;” />
@ONe guy from finland.
“Why do you say soccer mom? Nobody plays soccer in the US?
Why don’t you say American Football Mom??”
In America, a ‘soccer mom” is a mom who spends her time ferrying her kids to and from soccer matches. She does not play.
Just a thought,
en
Foley is one of the biggest idiots on the web. There should be laws to prevent people like her from blogging.
@One Guy From Finland
> Really? And you still haven’t learned to call it what it is? ie Football
In Australia it’s also soccer, and in Italy it’s Calcio. Who cares what it’s called, as long as it’s played, and getting stronger here. (It is.)
PS…
My friend is a long time MS user. She even coded in DOS. Loves the pc.
Recently she bought a first gen iPhone. Loved it. played with it.
Recently she decided she is going to buy a MacBook Pro. OF course she plans to load it with MS software….. for now…… maybe… LOL
Some convert easier than others. Me….. I hate pain and suffering. LOL
Just a thought,

So, Mary Jo Foley was the person that bought the Zune HD. I have never seen a Zune on the street any where at any time. However, I did see Zune accessory stuff once or twice on a shelf.
Did anyone other than Mary buy a Zune? If so, Steve ballmer thanks you very much. He also would love to know what you were thinking and how can he duplicate your mistake!
If Mary Jo truly wanted a “compelling Windows slate” all she has to do is wait…
and wait…
and wait…
Anyone who read another word from this woman after she predicted that Ballmer would attend WWDC to announce Silverlight for the iPhone deserves the searing pain in their eyeballs that this tripe no doubt causes.
http://themacadvocate.com/2010/05/27/dear-google-thanks-for-the-absurdity/
Mary Ho..er…Jo,
This is your first step toward actual credibility by finally actually using a product you have been paid to poop for years.
I’d bet that at least secretly you’ll soon buy another Apple product.
Clark Howards wife bought a Mac and now all you can hear are Apple praises after he has pooped them for years and years.
Foley ranks up there with Enderle. They both praise their taskmaster, Steve Ballmer. At least they know which side their bread is buttered.
“I am not an early adopter or someone who rushes out to buy the latest/greatest gadget.”
Ya, I really want to listen to a tech blogger who avoids new technology. Guess it’s appropriate she blogs about the Microsoft, she’s ahead of the curve there. Glad you are starting to see the light biotch. First ipad, then full conversion. Just don’t blog about it.
“But I never wanted to be part of the Apple community because I have had so many negative, hostile and condescending interactions with not just Apple fanboys, but regular Apple users. If that’s what “thinking different” was, I wanted no parts.”
That`s where I stopped reading. Listen Blo Job Mary when you spend years talking shit about something or someone and the reaction you get is generally negative.
Kapeesh?
The fact that MJ bought an iPad makes no difference at all. She’s been biased for so long that I doubt she’ll enjoy it…
Apparently MDN has failed to notice that a) Apple products ARE expensive and b) you can (maybe) save money by going the PC route.
DUH ! ! !
So … why do my wife and I own THREE Macs? Because, for what we want to do, they are less expensive! For WoW, email and non-p0rn surfing, a <$500 PC is just fine thanks. And there IS NO <$500 Mac. You want GarageBand or any of a dozen other possibilities, you need to spend more. Suddenly the price tilts in the Mac’s favor. But … only if you need “more”. Like … “security”.
Wrong. I purchased a Mac Mini and put 8 gigs of RAM in it.
Bought it at Best Buy new for $454.00. It has an I5 processor
and runs Mac OSX Mavericks. Waiting for Yosemite. Already
had the mouse, KB and 24 inch HD display.
ChrissyOne needs to write MDN takes.
@ DLMeyer
The point that you missed today was that Mary Jo oversimplifies the cost issue. Rather than go into detail about why Macs are better for you, she simply writes “Macs are expensive” in the most simple-minded and literal sense. No thoughts on cost of ownership, time spent fixing WIndows problems, general angst and pissed-offedness, etc.
Macs aren’t expensive if you know what to buy. I bought a refurbished MacBook white and put a black shell on it
with a black rubberized keyboard key cover. It looks like
new and came with a new battery. Has a 2.16 Ghz processor and
3 gigs of RAM. Doesn’t have alot of video RAM but I don’t use
it for graphic design. With Rosetta, it runs all legacy apps on
Snow Leopard which I tweaked to look like Mavericks. With Mac
Google Chrome Apps and Docs, it does everything. Has Pages
and MS full version Office and all of the other bells and whistles.
It cost me $199.00 and replaces my PPC, IBook, which still looks
like new and runs great. That IBook only cost me $244.00.
@ Mary Jo
If you read this, please try to understand where I’m coming from.
Once in a while, to see clearly, you need to blink, and maybe stop staring at Windows all day long.
So MJ wishes that Apple apps were more “Windows friendly”. You mean as in hit “Start” when you want to stop, and “ShutDown” when you want to log out? That kind of friendly?
When my wife converted me to Macs the hardest part of it all was forgetting how to do things the hard way, e.g. “No, dear, you don’t need to edit the registry. Just drag that app to the trash can icon.” Or, “No, you don’t need to load camera drivers, just say ‘yes’ when it says it sees a camera and asks if you want to download the pictures.”
MJ’s remaining angst is simply that iOS is not Windows. I have a secret for her: iOS is really a stripped down version of OS X. The little OOS you’re so in love with is exactly what you’d find on a Mac with OS X, just in case you want to lock yourself in the bathroom and try a Mac someday.
The Apple application that is most friendly with Windows is called OS X. It runs on hardware that allows you to run a full session of Windows concurrently. I run it fullscreen on a second monitor attached to my elegant, space-saving iMac.
Try it.
Correct. You can run Bootcamp or the virtual machine Parallels.
Can run Windows on your Mac. I have been using Virtual PC
for years on my old PPC, Sawtooth, G4, and it still runs Windows
95, XP and Red Hat Linux. Also run Mac OS 9.2. Fabulous Machine
that I still ran turbo tax on until last year. Runs OS X Tiger. Also
have original IPad and new IPad mini with retina. Waited until
they came down in price. Bought an IPhone 4s with IOS 7 on it
for $150.00 and put a wrap around steel case on it with double
glass screen case for protection, price of 15 dollars. Looks like new.
@ macslut
“That’s not so simple. Football wasn’t coined as a term because of the use of the foot and the ball, but rather it was a game with a ball played “on foot” as opposed to on a horse. The original basis for both football and soccer was the same game. “
Made me laugh anyway…
Football: the Scotch Professor’s game was invented long before anyone thought to put on 300 pounds, protect themselves with uniforms stitched together from old kitchen sponges and run at one another whilst not using their feet.
so this technology expert has never bought… or used…an apple product before?
dear lord……..
*facepalm
My first Mac was a Mac Iici built in 1988. I learned how to use
my first Mac on it. Owned every beige Mac between that and
the first Mac G4. All of these machines are still working and run
all of the original software and games from the early days. Mary
Joe really missed out on a lot of great stuff.
She bought a Zune instead of a iPod Touch??? LOL WTF?
Maybe she thought that the ‘Ballmer discount’ on the Zune was too good to pass up on.
But really, she must really hate Apple.
I bought a Zune for my wife because she wanted a cheap
music player. We lost it and I could care less. Caveat. I have
never lost anything in my life that I thought had good utility.
Missed the most revealing phrase…
Thanks for your assessment of Mary Jo’s article but you missed the best phrase-“iPad for Windows Dummies”
If this lady makes her living writing about M$ products she should seriously start looking for another job. It won’t be long now.
> I’m a PC.
How embarrassing… Almost no one who is a Mac user says, “I’m a Mac.” Mac users generally consider themselves to be unique beings. “I’m a Mac” is what that actor says in those commercials. On the other hand, Windows PC users seem happy to be part of the “herd” mentality and say things like “I’m a PC,” just because Microsoft told them it’s cool.
(Actually, I’m sure most Windows PC users don’t go around saying “I’m a PC” either. Only the most misguided and pathetic…)
> This is the first Apple product I’ve ever owned.
Really? I would have never guessed. Now watch as you buy another and then another, until “I’m a PC” becomes a distant memory. But then, you’d probably have to find a new job, so maybe not…
Mary Jo Foley speaking positively about an Apple product seems to be a bit like hearing Judas say, “I believe in Jesus now.”
wtf???
That wench has been whoring herself for MS for so long that it’s amazingly difficult to wrap my mind around possibility of her being even remotely serious about her newfound iPad love.
Perhaps she has had an epiphany and realized she’s been on the wrong side of the tech world for far too long.
Either way, because of her previous life of shilling for MS, I’ll never be able to take her seriously so, no big loss.
“”Association football, or soccer, has long been a mainstream sport in the United States. It is the most popular recreational sport for both boys and girls and has been so for more than 30 years.”
I suppose………..if you count the 75% of the players on the field who run around a bit while 2 or 3 players actually do anything directly involving the ball.
I have tried dozens of times to watch it………………can hang in for a full game if girl friends kids are involved…….otherwise………. yawn
@ kenh
OMG… like Baseball is exciting to watch. ><
How about the seventh-inning-hang-my-fucking-self-off-the-skybox.
Some people actually go out and… you know… DO sports. I love mounting biking but it’s dull as sin to sit on my ass and watch.
Did someone drop an anvil on this TechTard journalist’s head?
Or did Microsoft forget to slip her the graft this week?
Or did she finally start taking her Lithium?
FTA: “I’m not planning to dump my Windows machine for the iPad. I am using the iPad as a consumption device, not a creation device (at least for now).”
When has she ever created anything except abject misery?
So she chose an iPad because no PC vendor could copy it fast enough… Definitely not praise worthy. The only thing that saved her from suffering from her ignorance and idiocy is the even greater incompetence of the Windows PC industry.
Wow… you people are assholes.
@ Bad Ole Dog:
I got that too.
I have to admit also that every time I’m in the book store and see “Windows for Dummies” I laugh SO HARD that milk comes out of my nose. Even when I haven’t been drinking milk that day.
Wow… Like a group of piranhas, attack ’til there’s no flesh left on the bone. You guys really are insane. Never visited a “Mac” site before, now I know why.
Is this what “thinking different” does to you? Seriously, 90% of you need to seek professional help.
*reads the incendiary and vindictive posts* Wow, they were right. You guys ARE zealots. Guys. It’s just a computer. Not the Ark of the Covenant.
Mary Jo is entitled to her opinion just as you are.
You guys all fuckin suck, why don’t you crawl out of your mom’s basement and stop acting like a bunch of elitist assholes. Get a fuckin clue you shit eating cock mongers, your brand sucks huge balls and the only reason why it has taken off is because Stevie knows how to market to a bunch of fuckin morons. Yeah that’s all of you.
and BTW when kids are younger they play a lot of soccer prolly b/c it’s less dangerous.
fuckin morons
What no Linux fan boys here to rub Apple’s nose in the fact they FINALLY gave up their POS MacOS and adopted a real OS like Linux and put their pretty GUI on top of it??
yup sounds like elitist hypocrites to me…
I really appreciate the tone of this blog and these responses. Thank you for confirming for me why I’m uninterested in Apple products. If you are a representative sample of users, you characterize yourselves as smug, condescending zealots, evangelical if not fundamentalist about your OS and your hardware. Now that you’ve reached enlightenment, best wishes.
All of you people (the arrogant asses and the author of this article) are sub-human douche-bags. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. I have only Mac products, but I certainly don’t want to be associated with a bunch of elitist jerks, who are constantly measuring themselves against others by a fucking computer product. You are a discrace to humanity. I’m sure S. Jobs would echo the same thing to all of you. Why don’t you show some self constraint, politeness, and diplomacy?
They pay trolls like they used to. Give someone minimum wage and they give you minimum wage performance.
Case in point: You can track the postings of today’s TardTroll by merely searching for the word:
“wow”
lazy lazy lazy
Microsoft: Pay more, get better troll posts.
Repair: “They don’t pay trolls like they used to.”
Time for more coffee
“People who claim to ‘choose’ Microsoft products, but who’ve never used an Apple product, have absolutely no credibility.”
I don’t recall Mary Jo saying she’d never USED an Apple product. Rather, she claimed that this is the first Apple product she had ever purchased.
Jesus! The response this woman gets from Mac fans for purchasing an Apple product reminds me of a bunch of poo-flinging monkeys. What gives?
I want to thank you guys for confirming that the elitist mactards are still alive and well.
Enjoy your flush down the crapper, LOSERS!
I pissed myself laughing at these outlandish, ridiculous and foolish statements.
Just because she hasn’t BOUGHT any crApple Mac products, does not mean she has not TRIED them. Use ya brains ya fools.
crApple Mac fanboi’s your time of Elitism has cometh, ye be warned.
The iPad has come to the masses, expect Apple to sweep you aside as though you never existed in favour of the crowd who will make them more money.
BTW, you 1337’s know how to put people off your community don’t ya?
Okay, don’t you think you are just a little unfair here?
I have been using PC for 20+ years, and yes I have used a Mac, I can work in both environments. I own an iPhone and in time will own an iPad. What I don’t own is a Mac computer, why? Because they cost too much! I can get the same computer in a PC for less price. Come on folks, now that Mac uses Intel processors and most of the same hardware that a Windows computer has, why should I pay more for it? In fact, I can even take a PC and run the Mac OS on it.
So please don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Foley was being genuine in her post, don’t disrespect her, she really liked the iPad and wanted to say so.
Way to welcome a new user, guys! As if one needed another reason to stay away from you idiots. Makes as much sense as a snap-on tool owner dissing a Sears tool owner because they finally tried a snap-on wrench. Come out of the basement and into the light, for chrissakes. Computers are tools, not religion!!!
Heartbreakingly funny reading. If we’d spend all this time creating tools (hw/OS/apps/etc) that consumers and businesses can effectively and efficiently use, then we could actually make progress. Instead, we’re too busy determining which bigoted position to take, then lambasting “everyone else” for their pin-headed views (with atrocious use of language).
One last thought. Apparently, this is one topic where diversity of thought isn’t acceptable. Everyone together now, “I am a bigot.”
“I never wanted to be part of the Apple community because I have had so many negative, hostile and condescending interactions with not just Apple fanboys, but regular Apple users. If that’s what “thinking different” was, I wanted no parts.”
Huh, looks like you Macfans kinda just validated her opinion of you. Irony is a harsh mistress. Time to get over yourselves.
Nothing to see here. Move along…
@IronySucksDontIt…
If there’s nothing to see, then why the fsck are you here?
Get lost you fscking troll.
“Repair: “They don’t pay trolls like they used to.”
Try Thinking Different Derek.
Oh, and you see the word “wow” because we truly are in shock at how truly disgusting some Mac enthusiasts are these days.
Welcome, Mary Jo, and all new to the platform iPad users!
For the record, all you nutcases out to flambe Mary Jo and call her a whore and all kinds of unbelievably disgusting things, perhaps you need to read her article IN WHOLE before commenting.
To quote directly from her article: “Just to be clear, I haven’t refrained from buying Apple over the years because I blog about Microsoft. Many of my Microsoft-watching colleagues consider it imperative and even enjoyable to use Apple’s wares. But I never wanted to be part of the Apple community because I have had so many negative, hostile and condescending interactions with not just Apple fanboys, but regular Apple users. If that’s what “thinking different” was, I wanted no parts”.
Hmmm, pretty much sounds like this group over here at this very moment, no? Boy, you disgusting bunch of animals might be the very reason why so many otherwise good, sensible people sometimes steer clear of Apple products. The fan base on sites like these is unforgiving, elitist, rabid (like a dog in this case, sorry) and otherwise a horrible representation for a company that otherwise has been doing almost everything right. Great products, bad representation by its users. Shame on all of you. Grow a pair and welcome in people like Mary Jo as new members of what should be a wonderfully diverse and friendly community because the day will come when all of YOU are the majority and have to deal with every dumb user with no technical knowledge to speak of flooding your boards looking for help with the ‘On’ button and you’re either going to need to help them or YOU will be the ones getting flamed off of every Apple-related board because the sheer numbers will win out over your disgusting behavior.
Oh, unless someone (<cough> Google <cough> Android) beats you to it and eats YOUR lunch, and you’ll be crying again about ‘lack of recognition’ and ‘undeserved praise’ for another platform that people like better. Go cry in your coffee THEN or snuggle in your corner sucking your thumb again talking about how only the smart people understand you…
Generic coward TrollTard ‘Anti Mactard’ sez: “Enjoy your flush down the crapper, LOSERS!”
How much do you think that TrollTard rant cost Microsoft? Place your bets!
I bet: 50¢
Seriously Microsoft. Olde school trolling in this day and age?
@hardhat
I don’t make the habit of trolling, actually. But I had to see these comments for myself. I was *hoping* it was all exaggeration on the part of the blogger that linked the OP. I was, sadly, overly optimistic.
After seeing such vitriol spewed at a new user who was only conveying her enthusiasm with a new piece of tech… well, I couldn’t in good conscience simply “leave it be”. Your attitude and the attitudes of others like you required a response in kind. The fact is, these negative comments are only serving to reinforce the belief that Mac fanbois are a bunch of elitist @$$’es. Call it ‘trolling’, if you like. Whatever helps you sleep at night.
I will now return you to your regularly scheduled “Macz4tehwinz” ranting.
Oh, and @Neil Anderson: Good on ya. That’s the response I would have preferred to see from the ‘enlightened masses’.
To all the slave wage TardTrolls prowling here today:
Go and actually read some Mary Jo Foley posts. Her troll rants put all of you to shame. Read and LEARN. If you want to troll, you have no better (teehee!) teacher than Mary Jo Foley. She was possibly the one, lone, remaining professional anti-Apple TechTardTroll in journalism. (Dvorak, Thurott and Enderle are too senile to count!)
Until now! Mary Jo Foley has become an official Apple fan. I say no one is beyond redemption! Praise the Apple!

Funny thing is, if they were, at least they’d be getting paid for it. You on the other hand, lend your Tardness for free.
I’m sorry, I thought this was a news article and not an op-ed piece.
My mistake.
PS: I’m impressed with your ability to personally attack another journalist vs. Reporting the facts and presenting an intelligent counterpoint. Maybe Fox News has an opening for you……
Rick Sheeley (my real name)
Well well.. seems some people are itchy because the average Joes are buying the Product that Will bury Mac…
I find your opinions utterly uninformed and therefore biased and of no use to anyone. you should be saying… “WOW a person that has liked Windows most of her life DOES LIKE the Ipad, she finds it useful…” yet you only bitch out that she didn’t do it sooner…
Me? I’ve tried Macs time and time again, yet I do always Recommend Windows TO THE SEMI EXPERIENCED USERS or PEOPLE THAT THRIVE TO BE MORE THAN JUST ITEMS TO THE DEVICE, but I don’t use Mac, It is sometimes too simple for my taste, Don’t get me wrong I LOVE MY IPOD, and I saw Iphone as a nice phone to buy (But WAAAY out of my income margin) and I MIGHT buy an Ipad too, but I will use Win for a long time now
I own Apple stuff. Have, in the past, had Macs… what you guys don’t get is – this kind of stuff (your responses) is what makes many people (myself included) not want to be any part of this… you’re a pretty sick group of people.
I’d rather have a dysfunctional device/computer rather than a dysfunctional life… I don’t want to become like you!
Silly me. I was so foolish as to think that only Microsoft fanbois were complete id10ts.
Have you guys ever actually listened to yourselves?? And you wonder why there is so much animosity toward the “Mactard”!!
As a former Mac-lover (and somewhat Mactard I’ll admit), much of my move toward Windows was a direct result of the blatant zealousness, which pours down from the top.
At the end of the day, a computer (and OS) is a tool-set, and the user should choose that which best suits their needs. As a digital artist/teacher, I find Windows the better choice (native x64 with Adobe’s applications, as well as AutoDesk’s key 3D/CAD application-sets, which no longer support OS X); for others, Macs will be the optimum choice.
Can well just get off the soapbox and quit the arrogant ridicule for once??
Oh please… This is an Apple fan site. The people who are here just to insult Apple fans are truly pathetic.
@ken1w
I didn’t originally visit the site to insult Apple fans. I even had a rational response ready. But viewing the majority of these posts, it became obvious that ravening was more popular.
I’d finish with an insult, but anything that doesn’t include profanity would far exceed the capability of this audience to understand it.
Why is this news? Who cares? If you’re so happy with a Mac, why is it so important to make sure everyone else uses one, too?
@ Support Tech
You just proved my point… Thanks.
“Why is this news? Who cares? If you’re so happy with a Mac, why is it so important to make sure everyone else uses one, too?”
Ah, those two things are completely unrelated. People believe in Apple and people like Mary Jo are out to put a stop to Apple. That’s why Apple Fanboys exist.
you guys are pathetic!
” Ah, those two things are completely unrelated. People believe in Apple and people like Mary Jo are out to put a stop to Apple. That’s why Apple Fanboys exist.”
Wow… people “believe” in Apple? Everybody get ready for the rapture because the second coming of Jesus MacChrist is here, and Mary Jo Satan wants to swallow your soul!
This is free entertainment at its best.
The traffic to your website can be higher if you just try to utilize the best directory submission service. Therefore just do it and focus on your business.
@ Derek Currie
Isn’t it funny how long lines of anonymous dolts show up a few days after we’ve stopped paying attention to a thread? Sometimes I come back, and just laugh an laugh. >.<
you all are incredibly mean.
“@Neil Anderson
Welcome, Mary Jo, and all new to the platform iPad users!”<i>
I applaud Neil for writing a ray of sunlight in two pages of mostly foul, nasty attacks from regulars of this site as well as drive-bys by several unregistered Windows-hyping trolls.
I realize this is the Internet, where anonymous posters drop grenades all the time. But really, what would make you think calling any woman <i>”whore, bitch, blow job Mary” and other disgusting crap is OK? Would it be OK if someone called your wife, sister or daughter the same? Simply because she used a different computer operating system? Jesus, get a life!
I made the switch to Mac OS X in early 2007. Had used Windows all my working life. Now, I’d never switch back to Windows. But I can tell you as tried to learn more about OS X I encountered some of the same smug, condescending, and even foul Mac users that Ms. Foley evidently has run into. They were only interested in their own little clique, not helping someone new learn more about the platform.
Savaging someone new to Macs like a pack of rabid dogs is appalling. We’re better than that, or we should be.
“We’re better than that, or we should be.”
Speak for yourself! ;P

The loan suppose to be essential for guys, which want to ground their company. As a fact, that is not hard to receive a secured loan.
